The Government Passes a "Compromise" That Does Nothing To Cut Spending Or The Deficit

Meh.

I'm pretty much giving up on trying to change anything at this point. If there has ever been a moment when our government has needed to quit bitching, roll up its sleeves, and get to work on what is best for America, this has been that time. Instead, republicans ran away, and the democrats got the most open-ended, loophole-filled gift since Obamacare.

We're finished. For the first time in my life, I actually welcome the acceleration in our downhill slide that is assured with the passage of this gutless POS bill. In fact, I may even join my local Che t-shirt-wearing weekend anarchist club, in hopes of doing my small part in driving another nail in our coffin. The ruling class has decided that they are willing to stick a knife in our collective stomach, so what's left to lose?

I welcome the reset button that is societal collapse... well, not really, but this way we can get to work on the rebuilding even sooner than I expected.

One thing's for damn sure.
Barry, Biden, Schumer and Reid are at the White House at this very moment, drinking scotch, smoking cigars and yukking it up about how they and the media rolled the stupid Republicans. Again.

Meanwhile, Ryan was obviously gotten to - perhaps his chairmanship threatened if he didn't fall into line... Bohner is thumping his chest, totally clueless.

Yup, we’re pretty much finished as a sovereign constitutional republic. It will take a great deal of pain and agony and heavy lifting to resurrect America, but we need to do it. Unquestionably, the current government has to go, and we have to return to the limited government the Founders envisioned and created.

No, it doesn’t. It does move the financial collapse date up considerably though. But, according to some, it is what the “American people” want. I say bullshit! The American people want fiscial responsibility. The “american parasites” may want it, and as the election of 2008 demonstrated, they are at this point in time, more parasites than producers.

You left Boehner out of the party. I am sure he is there too.

After today, 2012 is truly the final battle for our country as we know it. hopefully we can get there without collapse. If The Democrats maintain the White House or Senate, we are done as a nation. Because of today’s sell out, the hill is even going to be higher to climb to try to get out of this whole. The stimulus spending is build in to the baseline. Obamacare is reinforced into the baseline. Now, on our watch. Pathetic.

For all the posters out there who said the fix was in, this was all theater, and in the end we’d all be gang raped without so much as lubricant... you were right.

I agree ought-six.

I AGREE WITH THAT

We said; cut, cut, cut. But it looks like we got; spend, spend, spend. A hamburger today for payment later.

We add another trillion each year to the $14.4 trillion debt and pretend this is responsible?

Once you go off a cliff you can't stop halfway down, and the DeathCare bill that Zer0 and Nancy put in place might finish us off.

BOHIC-A!

This was never about stopping the spending. Boehner screwed up with the CR in December 2010, with Boehner 2.0 and now with Reid/Zer0. They should have passed 'Cut, Cap and Balance' as many times as necessary, putting the ball in Cowboy Reid's court until he cries 'uncle.'

Boehner's Blue Pill
''The best advise I can give you all is to ignore any symptoms and ignore all the concerns from taxpayers
that will arise after taking your blue pill medication. That $14 trillion deficit is just the status quo.
So 'eat your peas,' ... and steer for the cliff!'' /sarc

You support the same Cloward-Piven strategy that Obama is executing? Are you confident that we’ll win the ensuing civil war, and that you and your family will survive it?

I dont think the GOP ran away. Politics is the art of the possible. The GOP didn’t do badly under the circumstances (RAT WH and Senate).

Cutting discretionary spending is a first step. When we get the RATS out of the WH and Senate we will get more of what we want (entitlement reform, which is where the real savings lie).

Can someone please give me a link to the details of the debt deal? I’d like to know just what kind of “deal” we got.

TIA

DOn’t get confused between “cut spending”, “cut the budget”, and “cut the deficit”.

This bill does NOT cut spending, it may or may not “cut the budget”, but it certainly does cut the deficit.

Note that “cut spending” is simply not a well-defined term. Some want it to mean “cut spending below last year’s numbers” — and this certainly doesn’t do that. It does cut the amount of future spending that would happen under existing law. But not enough to cut it below this year’s levels. So it cuts the rate of increase in spending.

But by doing so, it cuts the projected deficit. And while that means we still have to borrow money, we have to borrow less additional money.

So no, it’s not a solution, but it IS better than nothing. It’s not like we are saying we are so in debt, we might as well go even more in debt.

Cutting discretionary spending is a first step.

Too bad they didn't, in fact, do that.

Fact is, if they were really cutting they wouldn't have needed the massive increase.

Politics is the art of exchanging one illusion for another. We need fewer politicians, and more leaders.

The republicans, at least the current crop of them, WILL NEVER CUT ENTITLEMENTS.
