Six kilos of coke smuggled in kidney beans, pistachios
South Florida Sun-Sentinel ^ | August 1, 2011 | Peter Franceschina

The woman flying into Fort Lauderdale International Airport from Colombia on Saturday afternoon had three bags of kidney beans and two bags of pistachios in her carry-on suitcase.

It must have struck the customs inspector as odd. So he cut open one of the kidney beans, to reveal "a white powdery substance" – cocaine, six kilos' (13.2 pounds') worth in all.

Wonder which Hollywood coke head that pistachio company will use in their next commercial? The lines just write themselves.

Aren’t pistachios really unhealthy?

They probably heard about our First Grimace’s “War on Obesity”, and were actually trying to smuggle in the nuts by hiding them in some cocaine...

Or in the new measuring system; 3HSCS - 3 hours supply for Charlie Sheen.

How much does a kidney bean hollower and coke stuffer make per hour? That is quite a tough job.

Thanks; maybe I’m thinking of cashews. One of those is supposed to be much unhealthier than you would think.

As you might have guessed, I don’t read labels before I eat something. I regard the Big Mac as one of the pinnacles of Western achievement (though I’m getting too old to eat them).

I don't know about that, but they sure as heck are addictive.

I did a quick search and it seems that nuts are generally considered healthy (walnuts, particularly, got high praise). Maybe someone else can offer a better response.

With the price of food these days, what has the higher street value? The kidney bean and, pistachios or the blow?

I’ve never eaten many; I’m too lazy to split them.

Yeah, I never buy pistachios unless they are on sale.

The nicest ones are pre-cracked... CRACKED get it? I don’t care for the red stuff that is put on the shells of some pistachos. That can’t be good to snort (duck’n & runn’n)

I don’t like the red ones either. I look at my hands and think “did I forget to wash the blood off?” But, frankly, even the sale prices scare me. I do love those salty little buggers though.
