No matter what happens with the eventual debt ceiling deal, one thing is certain: the political ground has now shifted under President Obamas feet, and he and his strategists have yet to realize how seismic the shift has been...

To quote Obama, was it a “Teutonic shift”?
Ha! That’s a good one.
I think Obama knows he’s screwed.
Do you really? Or do you think that they know that in a year, the media, Hollywood, and all the rest will rally around him and win? I’m not sure.
Well...if the current debt ceiling “deal” goes through, this will give Obama cover of a sort.
Why isn’t the American public SCREAMING about this????
When that Kangeroo Committee gets down to business, his base will change their tune as the GOP base howls in anger.
This is long term good deal for Obama and a CATASTROPHE for us.

I agree with his base rallying later. They’re in a sour mood right now. But once the GOP candidate is named, and they kick the Chicago attack machine into high gear, the progressive sheep will follow and rally. Against a weak GOP candidate, that spells reelection.
Depressing.
Voters bought into the hype of Hollywood and the MSM back in 2008.
However, they didn’t buy it in 2010 and won’t in 2012.
Nov. 2012 will be more similar economic-woes-wise to 2010 than 2010 was to 2008, which makes it even more likely 0 goes down and goes down big.
They’ll give us Mitt Romney..we’ll vote for Ron Paul and Obama is in like Flint.
What’s the word for Teutonic shift in Austrian?
But back to substance.
There’s a lot of groaning here at FR today, and understandably.
But it is what it is. I think we have to keep in mind that we didn’t totally lose. No, that is not heartening.
But we didn’t win the Cold War without a lot of major setbacks, either. Nor was it even apparent when Reagan left office that we had in fact won, and all that George Bush had to do was to kick over the carcass.
The welfare state is dying, because we can’t defy gravity much longer. We have to take heart and fight to make sure that something will replace the welfare state when it finishes crashing down.
I think in Cold War terms, we are at about 1985. The stimulus was like the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. The communists have overextended again, and they are going to lose. We just have to keep fighting.
Boy I sure hope you’re right.
It’s just that Plouffe, Alexrod, and Obama are terrific campaigners. One can only hope that the Obama Zombies have waken up from their slumber.
The greatest weapon that the GOP had going into the next election is the debt ceiling. The GOP should have pushed harder on the limited ceiling increase to force another conversation during the next election cycle.
He will win reelection.
Obama lost nothing in this deal.
The only way the political ground might have shifted under Obama is that he won this war and is on more solid ground. He and the democrats made buffoons out of Boehner and McConnell once again.
So now during the 2012 campaign he can claim he compromised with republicans but their plan only made things worse, yada, yada, yada.....
That's what they call it when Angela Merkel squirms at the prospect of needing to meet with Obozo.
Read this if you haven’t already seen it. It explains why I think 0 will lose:

Too funny! Could it be a Teutonic frock?
I think the Teutonians speak ‘Austrian’.
At least, that’s what Austrians speak. Just ask Obama.
