A pellet from a BB gun? Great reporting. That's like saying an arrow from a rifle. Journalists....

Nowadays....some air rifles can shoot either.
Heck....I had a patient in the hospital back in the early 90's that was killed by a BB gun.

Nowadays? It’s been that way since I was a kid in the 60s at least. I had (and still have) a Daisy BB gun and a Benjamin pellet rifle. But some kids had rifles that would shoot either, usually Crosmans but some Daisys.
Some of the new air rifles can do 1000 fps.
Same here! Was great fun! Thankfully no one drug out a Crossman.
Some pellet guns have a muzzle velocity of 1000fps.
There have been several instances of deaths caused by them. One recently in NC.
IIRC the pellet penetrated a boy's temple.
I think an eye shot with that gun had the potential to kill a human, and with the pointed tip .22 pellets, a body shot could have.
i don't know what the kids are using, but like drugs, this was an "entry weapon" towards using something more lethal.

When I was a kid, we’d just lick the wound and keep playing.
We used to stand across the street from each other and throw darts. The only rule was you couldn’t move your feet. LOTS of puncture wounds there, trust me.
I use, have used, and been shot by pellet guns. I’ve killed pigeons with them. I know what they can do. I still say “wimp”.

I like my old multi pump Crossman, wonder how much you can pump it up to in fps?
