Pellet fired from BB gun hits KABC's Leanne Suter; teens arrested

KABC-TV Channel 7 reporter Leanne Suter was injured after being struck with a pellet from a BB gun Saturday while doing a live weather report in Fontana, but she was not seriously injured, authorities said.
Two teenagers were arrested in connection with the shooting, Fontana police said. Suter was taken to a hospital after being hit in the hand with a BB round, said Lt. Mark Weissmann. She was standing on Summit Avenue near the 15 Freeway when she was shot about 6 p.m., Weissmann said.
Two boys, ages 16 and 17, was taken into custody on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, he said. Their names were not released.

did they actually attack her on purpose? Assault takes intent. I’m not so sure on the “deadly weapon” part either.

First sentence it was a pellet, second sentence it was a BB ‘round’(?!!). The state run media idiots never let us down the freakin’ idiots. I wonder if it was an assault air powered EEEEVVVVIIILLLLL black weapon?

My money is on pellet gun. It’s hard to believe a BB gun at any range other than point blank would require hospitalization for a hand wound.

I’m not so sure on the “deadly weapon” part either. A few years ago near where I live a walker was hit in the neck with a pellet. It broke the skin and penetrated a blood vessel. I don't remember if it was fatal, but it was serious.

Oh, did I say Red Ryder BB Gun? I meant to say I was outside watering my Red Pepper plants with a squirt gun.

Quite a few BB guns will shoot pellets. I have owned 3 or 4 myself down through the years that were either or. I still have my old faithful Crossman ‘Powermaster 760’ pumper, that picked I up in ‘68 or ‘69. The darn thing still runs as good as the day I bought it. True it was never used all that much with BB or pells but 40 plus years on an air gun isn’t bad!
