WASHINGTON/DETROIT (Reuters) - Several major automakers on Friday embraced the Obama administration's proposal to push the industry further away from once-dominant gas guzzlers to more lean and efficient vehicles.
The proposal, which is the result of months of negotiations between the Obama administration and automakers, would require automakers to reach an average fuel efficiency across their fleets of 54.5 miles per gallon by 2025.

Now, my 200MPG carbureator will FINALLY be released to the public????

How many of the "Automotive Executives" were from Obama Motors? (Chrysler/GM)?????
Which major donors (including the UAW) got this benefit to their jobs longevity, and what Green Donors will get even MORE taxpayer-extorted money into their pockets?
FOLLOW THE MONEY, FOLKS.
exactly. If every manufacturer produces a Leaf type car (complete plug in) how many MPG does that count for on the cafe?
Remember GM’s 2 wheeled version of the segway?
Maybe they’ll come up with a “carbon equivalency mileage” figure so that they can lump electrics, hybrids & Internal-Combustion auto’s together? Maybe I should keep my mouth shut & not give the enviro-nazi’s any ideas...

The Great Obama has spoken! Let it be writ. Let it be done.
Tagline. There is nothing more to say.
Here's an idea: Eliminate the EPA and U.S. DOT instead. What do they do for us?
Only in DC do the idiots think they can negotiate or bend the laws of thermodynamics
average fuel efficiency across their fleets of 54.5 miles per gallon by 2025.
An average of 54.5 MPG would mean some of the cars would be even higher than the average and by what possible means can we get 60 plus MPG in other than a moped ?
We’re just doing to him with this balanced budget amendment what he’d like to do to me for wanting a big motor BMW.
I honestly don't believe that's a coincidence. Whether through death panels, euthenasia, accidents or whatever, that's the only way Obamacare saves money.
Why not make it a hundred?
These little cars will have so many airbags that their prices will necessarily be $100K +.
And a wreck with an 18 wheeler will set off so many airbags in the little motorscooters that the driver will be instantaneously vaporized by the airbag heat.
Guess it's time for those oil companies to unshelve the 100 mpg carburetors they've bought up from all those inventors over all these years.
Sure! You think that's hard? He already caused the seas to stop rising...
They’re using the “Obama says it, so it shall be” calculation (meaning they’re dumb enough to believe Obama’s will is all that is needed to make it true).
You forgot housing and the mortgage industry. Fannie and Freddie are handling a bigger majority of our loans than ever.
You have to love the way all these things are due in future administrations.
Since we apparently now have a magic wand, why not just make a law that says all engines must get 10MPG higher fuel economy tomorrow. Then, we make another law that says the economy must grow at 3.5-4.0%. Then, another that outlaws shark bites.
