NEW ORLEANS (AP) -- Colorful former Gov. Edwin Edwards, who turns 84 next month, on Friday married a 32-year-old woman who befriended him during his federal prison sentence for bribery and extortion.
Edwards, a Democrat who served four terms as governor in the 1970s, `80s and `90s, did most of the talking after he and bride Trina Grimes Scott emerged from an elevator at the Monteleone Hotel in the French Quarter.

She’s just looking to get her hands on all of the money he squirreled away from the skimming and payoff schemes he set up during his political career.
Good Lord, at this age difference, he could be her older brother!
Well, she ain’t a dead boy...........
But he’d die happy!.....................
If he doesn’t get hired as the new viagra spokesman, their ad agency needs to be fired.
That’s her older brother.
“When they finally pulled the drivers body from the twisted, burning wreckage, ...it looked...like THIS!”
¨Fellow criminals....¨
He’ll ruin her reputation.
Edwards once commented that people should vote for him rather than his opponent because you know how much he would steal but you didn’t know how much his the other guy would steal. (he was an honest thief)
She plans to ride him right to the bank. Most likely to a bank in the Caymans. The US Attorneys could not find where he had hidden his money from what I’m told. I’m sure she will or he’ll die with her trying. There are worse ways to go from what I see. The shame of EWE is that he had the talent, IMHO, to be one of the greatest Governors in American history.
To be honest, that “hustler” pic is a cheap shot. Not that you were wrong to post it, just the original “set up” was cheap.
well, he looks great, and so does she.
this is like the douglas/zeta-jones wedding.
Best wishes to the happy couple!
Yeah, and the guy right behind him is his parole officer.
He may have been guilty, but she sure ain’t.
That is the only strip joint in the world my dear wife has ever entered on a dare with me...two years ago when we were at the Audubon Cottages on Dauphin....
She was not impressed..lol
My boys love to stroll Bourbon street after dinner at a nice New Orleans eatery all duded up in their Blazers or Seersucker...
It’s a tradition.
I have uncle who is Edwards age and after caring for my sick aunt for 15 years, after her passing he married a lady he met at his church (Mississippi). She is about 40. He wanted to be married to be right in God’s eyes for what he had in mind.
No joke....and he called me to explain knowing his kids were divided...his 2 boys were ambivalent but his 3 daughters were scorched.
He has a nice estate and she is his partner and looks out for him as well. It’s a a rational agreement with a nice degree of caring and emotional commitment.
My wife was suspect at first but now likes her.
*but admonishes me not to get any ideas
