“I will say this. I wouldn’t want to be in a foxhole with you. Your loyalty is as deep as your debating skills.....sorely lacking. “

Who would want to debate with someone who cannot answer a question?

IF the REID bill passes, it will make significant cuts in military spending, as it puts into law caps on future military outlays. The Boehner bill is better for military spending.

Now, if you believe that rejecting the Boehner bill will lead to the democrats in the senate caving in and passing CCB, and the president signing it, then you are right and he is wrong.

What I believe is the more likely scenario, if the house fails to pass a new boehner-like bill, Reid’s bill will become the vehicle for which democrats get credit for solving the problem while republicans fought amongst themselves.

If you believe as the tea party hardliners do that half the house is made up of RINOs, you will have to explain to me why you think Pelosi can’t get 40 of those RINO republicans to vote with a united Democrat house to pass the REID bill, when push comes to shove. We are told half the republicans in the house are ready to stab the tea party in the back. Heck, we are being told Allen WEST is stabbing the tea party in the back, and he’s clearly among the 40 most conservative people in the house.

So, how does Boehner STOP the Reid bill in the house, when all the democrats vote for it, and Boehner couldn’t get enough votes for his bill, and half the republicans are RINOs waiting to stab conservatives in the back?

Please explain to me how the conservative rosy scenario works.

Personnel IS policy, that’s for sure.

The next question is how you define “conservative.”

The Tea Party, to date, has done a crappy job of doing that.

“He did join the Congressional Black Caucus, which unabashedly proclaim themselves to be Socialists.”

####

Even if they weren’t the Communists that they are, that is a highly suspicious move on West’s part.

Playing race politics is not a conservative ideal. Not even close.

I guess he thought he could “change” them, eh? /s

Living overseas (and I recommend it, by the way) and being (mercifully) disconnected from American politics, aside from my reading here, a little perspective.

I’m a political independent; always have been, and always will be. In general, there many commendable things to say regarding the Tea Party Movement, such as contitutionalism, fiscal conservatism, and more latitude to the individual States in regard to the more contentious social issues. Back in the 80s, in High School in the USA, my US history teacher (a flaming liberal) basically laid down the law in regard to how the USA was structured as a republic (he always emphasized that when kids would say “We’re a democracy”. He was a liberal, but by God, the man knew his history) and I’ve tended to adhere to what nowadays be called the “right-wing” point of view. I call it the “common-sense” or “obvious” point of view, but that’s just me.

However, that being said, the Tea Party Movement is essentially a revolutionary movement (I mean that in the positive sense of the word), and one must never forget the Golden Rule of which applies to about 90% of revolutionary movements; revolutions eat their own. It’s happened in pretty much every revolutionary movement I can think of from the French Revolution onwards. Perhaps the American Revolution was singuglarly unique, historically speaking.

Some of it is also the seductive power of political office; I have no doubt that people (so to speak, citizen statesmen) go in with the best of intentions, but become inevitably corrupted due to the corrosive nature of 20th Century power politics. There may be a few here and there who adhere to their guiding principles (true believer, idealists) but generally speaking once someone tastes the ambrosia of power, the addiction is instantaneous and overwhelming. Is it the way of things, and it will never change; it’s the nature of the 20th/21st Century American political system. Special interest groups rule the game, and we the people just really don’t capture the imagination of your typical congresscritter. We’re not giving away free trips to Cancun (ie, “research junkets”), single scotch malt, fine cigars, and pretty hookers.

Lobbyists do. That’s why they win.

Not to be a downer to anyone; I’m deeply pragmatic and extraordinarily cynical. Otto von Bismarck pegged it when he said that politics is bit like making sausage. The end result is delicious, but you really don’t want to see how it’s made (I’m paraphrasing).

Sadly, I don’t know how to post an image, so if someone wouldn’t mind doing it, I’d love to see an image of the great, immortal Edward G. Robinson from the end of the film, “Little Caesar”, as he lays mortally wounded, with the caption “Is this the end of the Tea Party?”

It’s not, of course, unless people become so disgusted with politics that they turn off from the great game entirely. And THAT is exactly what the “Establishment” (the ruling class) wants to see happen.

So, back to work for me; breaktime is over. Just some thoughts and reflections from an expatriate. I mean no offense to anyone, and if I offended anyone, my apologies.

Have a good one....I’m following this story from overseas with some interest.

Boner will never get his $1T limit. Reid will use McCongame’s debt ceiling plan to give President Fool Sucka debt limit authority, use McCongame against himself, McCongame against Boner, and vice versa, and all of them against the American people.

Even if Boner got his limited debt limit, it still punts to 6 months from now. He asked for nothing up front, how do we know Boner will deliver 6 months from now? Had he done CCB AND a $1T limit, he could have compromised to $2T to keep the guts of the CCB intact AND we’d have had this debt fight about this time next year when the election was hot.

He blew it, and West is a fool for supporting it.

C'mon Man!

Unbelievable. Congressman Allen West is NOT McQueeg, Snowe, Collins, Graham, etc. He is the BEST we can get at this moment in the history of the USA, especially in FL! Seriously, dude! You really want to join Debbie Blabbermouth W-S in throwing him out?! For a conservative to suggest throwing him (and Laura Ingraham) under the bus is sheer lunacy.

This is an argument of TACTICS in a long war of attrition, not over conservative PRINCIPLES. Geesh. I hoped we were smarter than this!

He’s good at spouting patriotic slogans derived from the military culture and that is good. However, the military culture does not cultivate individuality, creativity and original thinking. Ultimately, you are good if to carry out orders frmo the top.

Hey OAF and Org. Here's a nutjob troll spouting off on your thread....congrats....thanks for showing loyalty to Col West....

“This is an argument of TACTICS in a long war of attrition, not over conservative PRINCIPLES. Geesh. I hoped we were smarter than this! “

That is the kind of thinking that got us a $14+ trillion deficit. Way to go. Was the letter he sent to Wasserman a tactic too? How about joining the black caucus? Either he has a bucket full of mysterious (but yet honorable) tactics or perhaps he is not what he says he is..

OK, I’m fine with that, so let’s take Boehner to the wood shed and make his bill better, I’m cool with that. It is the never, under no circumstances, raise the limit I think is counter productive.

"Make his bill better"? The entire basis for his bill, just like every other bill offered, is to raise the debt ceiling by trillions of dollars.

You can't fix something that is so intrinsically rotten to the core.

Oh and by the way, it is one thing to disagree with members of the Tea Party, it is another thing to attack them. West, you attacked your own, and that was a huge mistake.
