The tea party's terrorist tactics By: William Yeomans July 29, 2011 08:22 AM EDT
It has become commonplace to call the tea party faction in the House hostage takers. But they have now become full-blown terrorists.
They have joined the villains of American history who have been sufficiently craven to inflict massive harm on innocent victims to achieve their political goals. A strong America has always stood firm in the face of terrorism. That tradition is in jeopardy, as Congress and President Barack careen toward an uncertain outcome in the tea party- manufactured debt crisis.
As we stumble closer to Aug. 2, it has become clear that many in the tea party are willing to inflict massive harm on the American people to obtain their political objective of a severely shrunken federal government. Their persistence in rejecting compromise, even as the economic effects of the phony crisis they have created mount, has taken their radicalism beyond tough negotiating, beyond even hostage-taking.
As markets fall in anticipation that there may not be a timely resolution; as credit agencies issue dire warnings that the U.S. political system has become so dysfunctional that a credit downgrade may be inevitable, and as America looks weakened in the eyes of the world, the tea partys hostage-taking has evolved into the intentional infliction of harm on innocent Americans to achieve a political objective terrorism.
Terrorism is a tough term, but, unfortunately, it describes tea party tactics precisely. Their first step was to vow not to vote to raise the debt ceiling.
Here, as in many radical factions, there was a split between the purists and the pragmatists. Pragmatists vowed not to raise the ceiling unless draconian cuts were made in the federal government.

Exactly what I was thinking. The Tea Party caucus is what, at most 60 members of the House, and a handful in the Senate? If the other 300+ members of the whacko left and squishy middle can't come to their own agreement, how is that the Tea Party's fault?? They're just looking for a scapegoat.
Always talking about Peelosi ain’t he.
This kind of article is why I am loading up on ammo. This kind of rhetoric is what is going to enable the semi-dictator to become a full fledge dictator. Just like Hitler never took over with the ammo box, but by the ballot box. And then slowly he made a scapegoat, then he made them the states enemies. I truly believe the only thing keeping liberals away from full fledge tyranny is the guns in our hands. Never give up,never give in and never submit.
Read my post. It says it all.
Well, I’m sure the original tea party was looked on as radical in its time.
And, isn’t it just like Dems/liberals/progressives to spend...spend...spend...spend and hope that the revenue equals their spending (like accountants).
Then blame others when it does not.
Got news for them...IT’S NOT MY FAULT YOU OVER SPENT AND NOW DON’T HAVE THE MONEY. Take it out of the money you are sending to terrorist countries who hate us.
I see the Tea Party as the 101st Airborne Division during the Battle of the Bulge, and the Washingtonians are the Germans telling us to surrender.
Put me in the camp with the Tea Party Freshman that are saying "NUTS"!!!
2) - Obamas supporters will still vote for him. They are democrats. Why? Because, as I said in my first post, he will...with the power of the MSM...successfully blame the GOP. His base will buy it. He will tell them the only way to get their checks back is to ensure they get him back in office and every GOP out of office.
Yes...they will riot. Doubt what I say? Just watch.
End of discussion.
I share your distaste but reluctantly disagree. We need to see it, and to know that this stooge Yeomans has secured a lodgement at Politico, where he is doing hardcore "black" hate-propaganda.
We need to register and remember his name. As Caligula told Tiberius, "First we make a list. A long, long list."
And "capitalist-roaders", and "gold bugs".
We'll see them all, eventually.
The battle field should be the 2012 budget...not something that has never...historically...been a battlefield.
If the leadership were going to choose THIS battlefield to die on, they should have done so with a good plan. Put forth ONE bill. ONE. Then say...I've shown you mine...now show me yours. According to the little cartoon...that's the way the process works. Then walk away.
So...either fight the battle at the 2012 budget or fight it the RIGHT way by walking away and IN UNISON.
the leadership should NEVER have offered up MULTIPLE plans without getting ONE counter proposal from BHO or Reid. STUPID.
That's because he isn't doing "debate" or "reasoning" or "discussion" or "advocacy".
The article is pure, murder-hearted destructive black propaganda against a hated Other. This person is your deadly enemy, and he comes before the public encrusted with public honors and trusted offices bestowed by Ted Kennedy, who was accustomed to having private, off-the-record, closed-door meetings with people like Anatoliy Dobrynin and Yuri Andropov, General Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union.
That's where this guy is coming from. He is a blackhearted traitor, and you are a patriot. He hates you as soon as he identifies you. There is no discussion. Capiche?
These people won’t call terrorists, terrorists. But no prob calling the tea party terrorists.
Oh yes...Politico. The place of which I never tread (right up there with The Business Insider). ;-)
These Politico people are mentally challenged.
The Cut, Cap, and Balance bill and amendment to the U.S. Constitution effectively transfers the power to appropriate funds and taxes from the originator, the House of Representatives, and the Senate to the Office of the President. Doing so further enhances the power of the President to DICTATE the expenditures or outlays, the receipts or taxes, and control of the entire economy, in addition to the power to wage offensive wars, make treaties with foreign states and organizations, and generally function as a dictator and/or tyrant. All with the blessings of the Democrats, Republicans, and the TEA Party.
A Federal law establishing a budgetary limit was already established by Congress and the DNC with:
PL 95-435,1978, “Sec. 7. Beginning in fiscal year 1981, the total budget outlays of the Federal Government shall not exceed its receipts.”
Ask yourself why is an amendment which further destroys the Constitution needed when the Federal law prohibiting such budgets was already a Public Law in 1978? Was it repealed, or is it just being abrogated?
Do you really want to support another Democrat and Republican effort to strip the American citizens of their right and ability to limit the Federal Government's power to tax and spend and spend and tax at will and impunity? If not, how are you going to communicate your opposition to the representatives in Congress?
Funny, I thought that John McCain and the rest of the RiNO trimmer-squishes did that in 2008, did I miss something?
You do remember the 2008 and 2006 campaigns, and the excellent Denny Hastert curatorial, middle-of-the-road Speakership that made it all possible, by coddling miscreants like Mark Foley and not expelling immediately grafters like "Cold Cash" Jefferson and stepping on "bridge-to-nowhere" pork-packing Republicans, don't you? Why do I have to review this?
You can go back to driving railroad spikes through Sarah Palin's eyes now.
ROFLMAO! Someone call Supernanny!
