I cannot decide who the worst negotiators are, Republican leaders or House conservatives.
John Boehner’s plan couldn’t get the votes last night so Boehner had to agree to add language conditioning a vote on a balanced budget amendment — an amendment House Republicans said could not pass so there was no reason to pursue Cut, Cap, and Balance. The vote will now be today.
The vote now is all about fear and messaging — fear of blame and a very weak message. In fact, the House will send a weaker message than Cut, Cap, and Balance. It’ll also get less votes in either House than Cut, Cap, and Balance.
Last night on Sean Hannity’s show, Senator Rand Paul said around a dozen Republican Senators will vote against Boehner’s plan. And they must. Because if they do not, I have a sneaking suspicion that Harry Reid will strip out the balanced budget amendment language and the second vote on the debt ceiling, send it back to the House, and get it passed with a hundred Democrats.House Conservatives who don’t like the plan, but are willing to trade their vote for a balanced budget amendment are about to be force fed the plan they don’t like by Harry Reid and all with their help.
Frankly, the House Republicans have turned this vote into a cult of personality vote. It is not about saving the Republic, fighting Obama, or cutting the debt. And you remember that when they vote for it.

Boehner is giving Obama exactly what he wants, he’s just making him ask twice for it. As a bonus, Harry is angling to make the House Republicans break nearly every campaign promise they made.
After C,C+B passed, Boehner should have done nothing. All he is doing now is negotiating with himself on how much damage he can do to his caucus and the country.
Maybe this isn’t a Reid trap and he has a strategy, I just don’t see it.
Congress is filled with evil men (that includes women).
If reid wanted it, some rats woulda been rounded up to vote for it.

If they do this I’ll be happy to go to d.c. to protest if someone will put it together.
The gop was given the majority on a promose to defund healthcare. Here is their chance to do it. This alone would cut the crap out of the debt. If they don’t do it we need to protest or simply let boner and his bunch know that we will know vote in the next election. Why should we vote people in who are going to do the opposite of what they promise.
Plus, the Tea Party congress people should tell boner that if he caves on any of this, such as extending this past obama’s re-election, they will caucus with the dems and elect pelosi speaker. I bet that would make him cry.
There are a great many posters here who are about to get slapped in the face with reality.
Boehner knew what he was doing with this and he intentionally cut CCB off.he wants to take the Tea Party down. They are a threat to the powerful RINO elite.
My personal opinion is that he was quietly behind the scenes threatening Jim Jordan with redistricting..and it isn’t just rumor.

I'm not sure, but what difference does THAT make. I doubt that many critters who will be voting on it have read it anyway. They'll have to pass it to find out what's in it. It's just the way politicians do things in DC.
WE need to read it to see what Boner is up to.
When this monstrosity passes - is shoved down our throats -and it will because Tea Party members caved...we will have to focus on 2012.
I have been thinking that perhaps Sarah has been waiting to announce until this drama is over...and will use it as the excuse to run.
Third party? Not sure.
I just know that the big march on Washington with hundreds of thousands of people did not change things.
What will it take? I grew up living the American Dream.

That’s too normal. What happened was abnormal. A gang of six or seven comes out of the woodwork with their plan to wreak the CCB, then we get Mitch with his plan and his deal of six congress/senators. Then we get this one. And wasn’t Ryans plan the first one?
It was a done deal since the golf game. All the rest is pure theatre. God bless our TP “gang” of 23.
As Mark Levine said on his radio show yesterday - “It’s hard work”. It took decades to get to this point and it’ll take a while until we get it into shape - if we get the opportunity - don’t trust obamunist if he’s losing the election.
Obama will get what he wants (although that won't stop him from whining).
Reid will get what he wants( near limitless spending), and;
Boehner will get what he deserves (a party in disarray).
This is pure Boehner, he'll support anything that he knows won't pass. He's done it from the first day he entered congress. I know this because he was my congressman until last year, he talks conservative and but acts Rhino every time.
It amazes me how little 0bamacare is mentioned in these debt speeches made by the GOPers . The elephant in the room ,,, just amazing .
