McCain refers to 'tea party hobbits,' blasts Bachmann-backed idea (Worthless RINO Alert)

On the same day that House Speaker John Boehner told Republicans to "Get your asses in line" and support his debt ceiling proposal, Sen. John McCain also blasted fellow Republicans.

In a Senate floor speech laced with sarcasm and stings, the Arizona Republican aimed especially harsh fire at the tea party Wednesday.

McCain said the movement is "foolish" to think a balanced budget amendment could pass before the August 2 deadline. At one point, McCain read from an op-ed in Wednesday's Wall Street Journal. That article referred to activists as "tea party hobbits" – the little people who inhabit Middle-earth in the Lord of the Rings series.

McCain – 2008's Republican presidential nominee – also blasted as "bizarre" an idea supported by current GOP presidential candidate Michele Bachmann, though McCain did not mention her by name.

McCain's fiery language comes amid competing Democratic and Republican plans to reduce the deficit.

McCain also blasted Democrats in his speech. He called the plan from Majority Leader Harry Reid "full of smoke and mirrors," and said President Barack Obama is leading "from behind" by not offering "a specific plan that perhaps could be considered by both bodies."

A few days ago another FReeper referred to DC as “Mordor on the Potomac.”

It’s even more fitting now.

“4) McCain/Feingold.”

Wisconsin did our duty and dumped the once popular leftist Feingold last cycle. I think he’s selling brats at Lambeau Field now or something.

AZ! You’re up.

Ohio... start warming up.

Does anybody know WWSD?

What Would Sarah Do?

Has Palin taken sides? This is a VERY important test for her. Actually, I am surprised the conspiracy guys don’t see it as a McCain /Romney /Rollins /Rove /Satan plan to stop Palin.

She HAS to back the TEA party in this, not him! Or she is done. For me anyway. And BOTH of my followers. If she really gives a Tweet about the TEA folk, she’ll respond. Thursday.

She needs to FINALLY break from this guy and side with the TEA party.

Or... GASP... some Sarah folk might have to switch to Bachmann.

McCain is a classic go along and get along elitist Washington insider. He has no problem with endless unlimited deficit spending and the resulting money-printing and taxing of Americans through inflation. It’s time for him to retire and let Arizona elect a real conservative leader to replace him in the senate.

Not this Arizonan, I voted libertarian.

Yea right. Got it. Until you folks pressure the legislature to get rid of the open primaries, you are stuck with this crap and the reputation irregardless of how you voted.

By the way, J.D. is maing noise about running for Kyl's post.

Imagine that...designing primaries so that Republicans can actually pick their OWN candidates without any interference from the communist Democrats.

Has McLame announced his retirement yet, or is the next election going to come as a surprise to him ?

Not paying much attention now are you? McCain won re-election in 2010 and is with us until 2016. The primary fight against J.D. Hayworth was not a quiet subject here or in the news.

It was the orchestrated crossovers in the open primary system that kept McCain where he is combined with McCain using his presidential war chest money to smear Hayworth.

O'Reilly tonight did his moral equivalency bit again by commenting on the Far Left followed by a comparable reference to the Tea Party which by his direct inference is on the "Far Right".

Then Laura Ingraham got on right after that and corrected his error and he acknowledged she was right by not arguing with her by saying she had a point.

It is tough to get this gasbag off his line as evidenced by how long it took him to realize there really was MSM institutional bias, but only after it had attacked him personally.

Thank you. Of all, I was the worst to you and I wouldn’t blame you for throwing it all back at me. I certainly deserve it. You were right and I was wrong.

He does seem to like movie character metaphors. IIRC he likened himself to Luke Skywalker way back when.
