McCain refers to 'tea party hobbits,' blasts Bachmann-backed idea (Worthless RINO Alert)
cnn ^ | 7/27/2011 | Shannon Travis

On the same day that House Speaker John Boehner told Republicans to "Get your asses in line" and support his debt ceiling proposal, Sen. John McCain also blasted fellow Republicans.

In a Senate floor speech laced with sarcasm and stings, the Arizona Republican aimed especially harsh fire at the tea party Wednesday.

McCain said the movement is "foolish" to think a balanced budget amendment could pass before the August 2 deadline. At one point, McCain read from an op-ed in Wednesday's Wall Street Journal. That article referred to activists as "tea party hobbits" – the little people who inhabit Middle-earth in the Lord of the Rings series.

McCain – 2008's Republican presidential nominee – also blasted as "bizarre" an idea supported by current GOP presidential candidate Michele Bachmann, though McCain did not mention her by name.

McCain's fiery language comes amid competing Democratic and Republican plans to reduce the deficit.

McCain also blasted Democrats in his speech. He called the plan from Majority Leader Harry Reid "full of smoke and mirrors," and said President Barack Obama is leading "from behind" by not offering "a specific plan that perhaps could be considered by both bodies."

Reagan would have to be Gandolf

If Ronald Reagan shows up in a white tuxedo and calls himself "Rodolf the White," I'm giving up alcohol for good!

This idiot does know that the Hobbits were the heroes, right?

*******************************

Well . . .

That -depends- on what side you are on, does it not?

I think McCain is bucking for a promotion to Nazgul when he is undead . . . He certainly has the look about him.

As Limbaugh says, you can’t make this stuff up!

in these strange times, those Reagan years look so bright don’t they?

I feel sorry for my kids - they aren’t growing up with the sense of security I did. They don’t have respect for the office of president.

Benedict Arnold was also a war hero.

Before his defection Benedict Arnold actually won some battles too.

Even the Republican left is beginning to see the Tea Party will not be rolled.

You want our vote, you do it our way. You want to do it another way?

Get your votes elsewhere.

And, Boner doesn't have the votes to pass his new "compromise" and ...get this...Reid doesn't have the votes to pass ANYTHING without a public show of a "bi-partisan agreement" to shield the 23 Democrat Senators up for election in 2012.

The real key here is that the GOP DOES NOT sign on to a high profile, bi-partisan agreement.

A fight to the last man or woman will force the Seantors from their shell.

When was the last time you heard from Tester, Web, Landriau, Nelson etc. ?

Silence. They want to keep it that way.

God forgive me...I was a dumb teenaged punk and I believed the eneMedia when they talked trash about President Reagan.

Due to the influence of my Teamster/Progressive family, I drank the koolaid until the dems actively suppressed the military vote in the 2000 election.

The strange thing, when I hear kids talk today, I can honestly tell them “I used to think the same way...” I hope I can be the influence that I needed, but lacked.

Did "Compromise" work for Neville Chamberlain?

It won’t surprise me a bit that this guy will stab Sarah in the back should she run for President. She better be prepared for such a betrayal.

With a dad who worked in the defense industry - I received regular discourses on “peace through strength”

I didn’t give politics much thought until I became a mom, but I do remember having great affection for the man.
He was tough when he needed to be, yet always smiled and very witty.
It’s awful how they try to claim him now after doing their best to destroy his reputation.

Hey - the Hobbit thing has legs.

We should embrace it and scream from the rooftops.

If we can self-identify as Hobbits, then that makes the Orcs and Sauron a no-brainer!

Who cares what this loser thinks. Only those demented voters in Arizona who put him in office give a damn about his inane rantings, and, at this point, they should be reconsidering their votes.

John McCain is probably the biggest @$$ to have EVER sat in Congress.

And that covers a lot of territory.

Every time I hear this bastard speak or see his nasty face on my television screen I want to vomit.

If he was half as good at attacking Obama as he was at attacking other GOP candidates in the primary, we wouldn’t have a Marxist Muslim in the White House.

This guy is beneath despicable.

I apologize to all I attempted to coerce into voting for McCain in 2008 by using obama as the greater fear/danger.

Apology accepted.

Today must have been Whacky Wednesday.

Not only was McInsane back in full stride again today, but O'Reilly tonight did his moral equivalency bit again by commenting on the Far Left followed by a comparable reference to the Tea Party which by his direct inference is on the "Far Right".

It was another of his unabashed SLIMY, SNIDE ATTACKS ON PATRIOTIC TEA PARTY FOLKS which he manages to slide into his show almost every other night.

He also made the smug statement that "Independents will decide the next election", not, as he stated, the Far Left on one side or the Tea Party on the other.

More equivalency.

No, Bill, the Tea Partiers are main stream, in-the-middle Americans who will decide the next election like we did the last one. We'll see about the intelligence of your twisted predictions in 2012, Mr. Bill, you spineless fence-sitter.

As if that wasn't enough, another whacko appeared a little later on Judge Napolitano's Fox Business show. He introduced some smart-aleck bee-itch guest as his special "friend". She promptly launched into her worthless spiel by calling Tea Partiers "crazies" right off the bat.

Da Judge gave a very lame, almost non-existant, tut-tut, allowing her to continue without missing a beat.

Is this full moon time in the U.S....or what?

I finally had it after that and switched to Aimless Winehouse's life story on "Biography" which I found to be more sane than the craziness riddling the day's Fox programs.

(....and don't even get me started on sicko commie, Boob Beckel, on "The Five" in the afternoon.....)

If McCain wants to use movie character metaphors, he should think about which one to use.

The Hobbits were the only beings that had a pure enough spirit that they could carry the The One Ring and not be corrupted by it's power. The race of Men lusted for power and the Rings consumed him.

So, according to McCain himself, only the Tea Party should be entrusted with great power. No insult at all, if you understand the storyline.
