New Boehner Version (Cut Cap and Balance it ain't)
NRO ^ | 7/27/11 | Rich Lowry

Posted on 07/27/2011 3:19:03 PM PDT by hatfieldmccoy

We’re hearing it now cuts $917 billion over ten years under the more recent CBO baseline. So under $1 trillion. On the other hand, the cuts are apparently more front-loaded: $20 billion in real cuts in the first year.

Elections are not how the Left gained the power they wield over the entire Western world. You worry way too much about elections.

Elections take care of themselves when you show yourself to be more aggressive and ruthless than your opponents.

I DO respect your patriotism , your courage and your convictions.

I disagree with you on this, but I can see what you are saying.

BTW, this is the ONLY forum on the web that is having this discussion, and yes, it IS needed!

I agree...We DO deserve the downgrading..which just may wake up a lot of people...the downgrading will probably come in anyways..AND if we can stall till 2012 and bring in the Independents..we have a chance.

$22,000,000,000

out of a deficit next fiscal year

$2,000,000,000,000 !

That is a “cut” of 1.1% or 11 “thousanths”.

Insanity. Tar and feathers may be called for before this is over.

Well, yeah, so what? Yes, we ARE in this mess.
So what else is new.

No, I want a LOT of spending cuts.My way to do that is to get a Conservative President and get the senate in 2012. Then get the cuts we want!

Hate to break it to you....the conservatives did a great job in 2010...BUT WE LOST THE SENATE AND THE PRESIDENT.
I am angry about that too, but I am not going to shoot myself in the foot by alienating every Independent and lose in 2012.

Brilliant response...that’s all you got for an argument.

WHY don’t you read conservative economists.

We WILL most likely get a credit downgrade ANYWAYS AND WE DESERVE IT!

Our only possibility is to WIN IN 2012 and turn this around when we have POLITICAL POWER!

I sure expected more of a decent response from you Jim than that.

See my post # 142.

No need to trash me personally because I don’t agree with you on this issue.

You may be right but welfare went right into the economy as well. Americans wanted welfare ended though it would be a much harder battle today.

But I’m not a political strategist and you may be right that this isn’t the right time for that fight. I just don’t know but I hate the deceitful way they’re doling out our money with the EITC.

I’m not a Cloward-Pivens fan of “Oh, just let everything collapse” and then we will change it all.

I didn't say that. Letting something go to seed means you stop harvesting it. In other words, we stop the spending by brute force.

Then the tax receipts will pile up while the expenditures go down.

That improves our financial position, and shows the rating agencies we have some financial self-control, albeit limited, thereby delaying the downgrades.

The reason the left is going mental (even more than usual) is that they still hold the White Hut, the Senate, and the press, and yet the Tea Partiers aren't bending over.

It's not in the script of the last 40-50 years and they DON'T KNOW HOW TO REACT: and they used up all their hyperbole earlier on.

What are they going to say? Not only did we cast granny out in the street, but we ran over her with her own Buick?

And the race card is ALREADY overdrawn.

Get real.

Cheers!

Well, guess you have “sour grapes” cause we didn’t sweep in in 2010. and now you are angry cause we still don’t have enough power.

“Elections are not how the Left gained the power they wield over the entire Western world. You worry way too much about elections “——guess the strong move we made in 2010 bringing in a lot of conservatives isn’t that important...guess I should have just stayed home and not worked those elections.Guess i was just worrying too much then, huh?

If the Boehner doesn’t realize that the future of the Party is at stake, along with its credibility—here, and now—
then he needs to go.

NOTHING matters to these voters now, but MAJOR and VISIBLE fixes to the budget.

without those, it’s RIP Republican party: 1856-2011

Dear Mr. Speaker,

The American people handed you a BIG bar of soap to clean up Washington NOW!

Cut Cap and Balance was a good move, and you were talking a good game...

But now it seems like you have dropped that soap and your bending over in the wrong direction!

PICK IT UP and STAND UP NOW!

or your butt is going to be hurting in more ways than one.

because the fight at that time will be even bloodier than this one.

And the inevitable GOP cave-in will be even more disappointing as well.

Well, guess you have “sour grapes” cause we didn’t sweep in in 2010. and now you are angry cause we still don’t have enough power.

Power? You think the Left derives its power from Congress and the Presidency? Wow, you are really lost.

Power comes in controlling every university, secondary and primary classroom in the country. Power comes through controlling every newsroom in the country. Power comes through their control of the American Bar Association, the bureaucracies, the publishing industry, the music industry, the movie industry and now even the churches.

That's power. Power they got through relentless and ruthless advance, never considering the consequences of losing.

Congress isn't power. It just follows the zeitgeist the Left has created.

The Marxist strategizers of the early 20th Century called this the "Reification of Triumphant Values." It's when Leftism has so saturated the institutions of society that even that which is put forth as "Conservative" is really liberal at its core.

In other words the people have adopted liberalism so deeply into their nature that they're incapable of even contemplating a truly reactionary response to liberalism.

To them this was "game, set, match". That's where we're at.

What was it Fred Thompson said today—something like it’s the best we’ll get. You know, I’m sick and tired of the crowd that is satisfied with the crums the demrats throw their way. They got us into this mess and now they say doing more of the same will get us out of it.

No different than Marxist 5-year plans that failed regularly and then were repeated over and over again—achieving the same result. Failure.

You people who’re so anxious to cave in the name of maybe winning the next election—what is it you expect to achieve?

I’ll tell you what you’ll achieve:

1. Perpetuation of the GOP RINO-demrat dynasty.

2. Giving Marxism another four years to destroy the country.

3. The demise of our Constitution and the protections/rights it infers on the population.

We’re in a battle for the soul of our country and all too many of you’re focused on is winning an election—regardless of the longer term consequences.

$150 billion is nothing—n-o-t-h-i-n-g. Congress needs to be cutting trillions now—not in 10 years. Otherwise, its just Washington business as usual. Anybody who fails to grasp that is an idiot, disingenuous or some combination of both.

You are not allowed, nor should you, run your household like the Fed. Gov’t. Why is it exempt from spending more than it takes in?

When are we gonna stop mortgaging our childrens—and country’s—future?

"My way to do that is to get a Conservative President and get the senate in 2012."

LOL!

We had a conservative President in the '80s for 8 years and a Republican Senate for 6. The HOR, well they were several blue dogs and still our debt increased 3 fold. Any cuts past the current Congress are bovine excrement and when you don't presently cut enough you get bad government.

I don't give a flying f* what Party occupies the Bodies, bad government is bad government. Promoting bad government for the purpose of winning future contest is still bad government. Can you guarantee a "Super Senate", especially when half the population is on the public teat?

Congratulations, we won a temporary popularity contest, too bad you had to sell the future out to get a small victory (Using your end game scenario).

The political games need to end and won't as long as the pragmatic self-described "realist" like yourself exist. We are on the road to destroy freedom and the United States experiment because of compromises and forgetting fundamentals that proved beneficial towards our liberty and our children's liberty. $14 trillion is the result of compromise, hooray for you.

Not really, the motion was never voted on. It was tabled on straight party lines. Which 4 of the 20 democrats will actually vote for a House bill? They wouldnt even vote in favor of allowing a vote on it.

As far as Im concerned, we have given two budgets that the Senate has rejected and it is the Senate’s fault that we have no budget. As we saw with health care, it doesnt really matter to Senate dems what the public polls in favor of.
