Laura Ingraham got the man of the hour on her show this morning, who confirmed that he did indeed tell the House Republican caucus to get their asses in line to pass his debt-ceiling proposal once the rewrite comes in. Speaker John Boehner also explained how he and Mitch McConnell would keep the deficit-reduction commission it creates from raising taxes, especially as Boehner reminds us some tax hikes are already in place. Boehner explains that he wants to push the Cut, Cap, and Balance Act, but he wants to make sure that he and a Republican Senate can present it to a Republican President in 2013:

The key in this decision by Boehner seems to be his assessment that the GOP will lose leverage the closer we get to the deadline whenever that might be. If thats true, then Boehner is making a smart play by consolidating what rhetorical gains the GOP has made in this debate and getting to a rapid conclusion. After watching the Gang of Six play last week in the Senate take the momentum out of the CCB Act, its not hard to see why Boehner came to that conclusion. Can Boehner succeed in whipping his caucus to get the needed majority to pass his plan? At the moment, that seems iffy but Boehner has had a good track record in holding his caucus in line over the last four years.
“The time for conservatives to jettison the GOP is fast approaching.”
The Grand Old Potty needs to be flushed.
Amen. The others are blasting the wrong person, and spinning their wheels, where getting Zero out in 2012 is concerned. UNITY is a must, it isn’t all the details we disagree on, but the fact that without a beginning to start- America goes down. How stupid to blame the man, who walked out on Obama, and refused to return his calls last week.
These people need to let God lead him, and stop being armchair quarterbacks, who don’t even understand the Rules of Engagement, or Diplomacy. The Bible says to “not despise the place of small beginnings”. Acting like morons isn’t going to get the job done either.
At least Boehner had a plan to start with, that could be altered to get support...STUPID IS AS STUPID DOES!
Attacking Harry Reid would be more productive, than attacking one’s own party....SHEESH
It wasn’t that long ago where the GOP held all three branches of govt.
They spent like drunken sailors as well. Was Bush a better president than Zero, NO Doubt. However, Bush and Rove’s and the establishment GOP are the reason we have Zero now.
I don’t think the country is ready for a 40% cut overnight.
Tee country WOULD support a 2012 budget = 2011 budget + 2%(inflation). I’d even compromise and add something for population increase. This is about 9X more than even the most radical Republican is talking about right now but it could be sold if the public can be taught that the CBO scoring is total B.S.
” The Grand Old Potty needs to be flushed.”
With Liquid Plummer, so none come back ;-)
This is no criticism of the CBO BTW. They are only using the rules Congress gave them.
I think freepers who are attacking Boehner are making a mistake. Obama is NOT going to sign this, so why not pass it and hoist Obama on his own petard, rather than let the Republicans be blamed when nothing passes?

Agreed.
AND we got Bill Clinton the last time the GOP was NOT UNITED, and Ross Perot split the vote empowering the democrats! Don’t you know that the Dems are salivating, as they watch the tea party attack Boehner...this is ludicrous behavior on the right.
Are you saying that the meager spending cuts in Boehnher’s plan aren’t even real cuts, but rather reductions in projected spending increases?
“Why fight as long and hard as they did only to surrender at the end?”
That was their plan. The Grand Old Potty.
Flush them and get us some Tea.
Stop jumping to conclusions, how childish!

We could do that just by seeing his papers, college transcripts, admission exams and all the rest of the shit we have seen ad nauseum from every other President. Have you seen them?
At what point do we realize we are in the middle of a coup?
Yeppers,
Boneheads phantom plan did not even have the phantom numbers he promised. What a sham.
The problem is that the House passed CCB and it did not pass the Senate. Now the new House plan is worse than CCB and it is said that it will not pass the Senate. At what point does Boehner say “we’re done”? Or does he keep tweaking the bill to make the libs happy? Enough is enough!
RE: I dont think the country is ready for a 40% cut overnight.
Well if that’s the case, we’ll have to borrow more money.
Someone’s got to pay for all these spending... and economics Prof. Walter Williams of George Mason Uni. calculated that even if you TOOK ALL the money from everyone in the USA earning above $250,000, that will only pay for 141 days a year of spending. That leaves still leaves the next 224 days with no money.
If I was in your caucus, Boner, I’da flipped the bird to your face, s0n.
Why wouldn't he? He gets 2/3 of what he wants: higher debt ceiling and no spending cuts. The only thing he doesn't get is tax increases. But he'll get those anyway -- the higher interest rates resulting from the debt ceiling increase and the inflation we're already seeing in the economy from our currency debasement are simply stealth taxation.
RE: Tee country WOULD support a 2012 budget = 2011 budget + 2%(inflation).
Why should we use 2011 as the baseline for the 2% increase?
2011 INCLUDED CRISIS EXPENDITURE, TARP and QE1 and QE2. The crisis is supposed to be over and those years are supposed to be emergency years. Why are we still operating on emergency budgets?
We should be going back to the beginning of 2009 budget as baseline.
