Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) agent Brian Newell continues to deny Operation Fast and Furious allowed for guns to be walked into Mexico.
Sir, in this investigation, we did not let guns walk, Newell told House oversight committee chairman Rep. Darrell Issa, California Republican, at a Tuesday hearing.
Newell was the lead agent in ATFs Phoenix field office throughout Operation Fast and Furious.
Youre entitled to your own opinions, not to your own facts, Issa responded. But, there comes a point when I go, Wait a second: 730 weapons bought by a man who had no money. Every penny he bought with he had to get from somebody. You knew that at some point. You knew who was buying them and you allowed it to continue.
After Newells outright denial of walking guns into the hands of Mexican drug cartels, the committees top Democrat, Rep. Elijah Cummings of Maryland, asked Newell to define walking guns.

I’m sorry you are naive enough to expect our government to hold itself accountable for it’s crimes.
It is also unfortunate that you are too infected with normalcy bias to envision the evil this government is capable of getting away with.
Calling me stupid just proves you are petty and vindictive.
Man up and grow up, lj.
All I’m saying is that you don’t know the future, nor do I, nor does any fallible human. I’m not calling you stupid, I’m saying it is a stupid act to instill defetatism by saying “this won’t happen/that won’t happen” (or will happen).
If you think I don’t know that our government is evil you haven’t read many of my posts, which really doesn’t matter but there it is. I do not suffer from normalcy bias at all.
America is not mentioned as a nation in Bible prophecy. Is that defeatist?
The rapture could very well happen before Nov 2012. Then Obama/NWO/Islam can destroy this world as instruments of God’s wrath, just as He has always used the heathen to impart His judgement and discipline.
I’m not interested in sectarian ideas.
“Instilling defeatism by pronouncements of this wont happen, that wont happen as though looking into the future with perfect knowledge is worse than stupid.”
That’s an inaccurate and unfair characterization of my reply to MikeSteelBe. I was in NO way “instilling defeatism”. On the contrary, I was saying that we can’t constantly let the fear of “racial backlash” hold us back from doing right by our country. What I also said was that allowing ourselves to be stifled by that fear, or political correctness, can’t even assure us that things won’t eventually come down to a battle between good and evil where the Republic is concerned. It’s already happening.
I wasn’t referring to your comment at all, llandres; I included you in my comment since MikeSteelBe was replying to you. I was referring solely to his comemnts.
Pardon me for not being more clear.
In fact I agree with you 100%.
Jesus Christ said “I am the Truth”.
We will all be held accountable for whatever Truth we choose to reject by “not being interested in it”.
My views are not “sectarian”. They are quite mainstream to evangelical Protestants.
I will pray for you to be delivered from your ignorance and arrogance.
How you come to terms with it is between you and our Lord, assuming you have a relationship with Him.
Thanks for clarification.
Let me explain my comments by saying that I am in no way stifled by such fear because I believe 2nd Timothy 1:7.
My pointed comments are directed to cure those infected with normalcy bias. It destroyed Germany about 60 years ago, and allowing state sponsored racism to fester is destroying America right before the eyes of those of us who can “see”.
I agree with you. Funny, sounds like you, I and Little Jeremiah all agree, right? So it was too bad about the whole misunderstanding thing :-)))
I think little jeremiah is a Catholic that rejects Protestant eschatology.
I still respect his right to choose his beliefs and disagree.
I prefer to keep any kind of Christian (or other religions) sectarian “end times” beliefs separate from speculations on whether this or that will happen with the grave and terrible political situation we are in. If someone has those beliefs, it doesn’t bother me at all. But to insist that you Know the Future in an absolutist manner is not something I’m going to swallow.
I have friends on FR who may share your beliefs or similar ones and I have no - zero - problem with people believing things I don’t. But when they get aggressive and insist that the future WILL be a certain way or have certain outcomes and I am ignorant and arrogant because I do not share said beliefs, there can be no rational discussion. I don’t feel the need to pray for others to be relieved of ignorance and arrogance just because their spiritual or religious beliefs differ in some small way from mine.
I prefer to “live and let live” regarding various denominations and faiths (leaving aside Islam of course) and respect that people do have different beliefs and that is their business. As long as people belief in God and the moral absolutes which are basically the same in all religions, I’m fine with that.
The fact that you feel a need to pray for my deliverance from ignorance and arrogance means any discussions between us are finished.
“I prefer to keep any kind of Christian (or other religions) sectarian end times beliefs separate from speculations on whether this or that will happen with the grave and terrible political situation we are in.”
Thank you for explaining that you choose an ignorant “faith” that you must keep separate from the reality of current events.
I choose to worship the eternal living God whose Word is alive in the past, present, and future.
Perhaps we worship different Gods after all.
You’re kinda new around here. Maybe you aren’t aware that the proper forum for condemning other people who believe in God to hell is the Religion forum.
I’ve been around here sine 1998, but with a different screen name.
Just like a good liberal, you have to change the subject when your opinions are discredited.
Think carefully about this, little jeremiah:
Would we even have a Biblical record of Jeremiah if he CHOSE to keep his faith in God separate from the current events of his day?
Wasn’t Israel in dire straits because of the sins of their nation just like the U.S.?
Wasn’t it Jeremiah’s calling to point out the sins of his people without worrying about offending their politically correct sensibilities?
I’m not trying to judge you, I’m trying to be a little “Jeremiah” myself and shake you out of the darkness you are in.
