Congress now has one week left to act, and there are still paths forward. The Senate has introduced a plan to avoid default, which makes a down payment on deficit reduction and ensures that we don't have to go through this again in six months.

I agree with your analysis. Also think they ought to use the quote by 0bama repeatedly in GOP commercials... show the graphs of unemployment rising, graphs of debt/budgets out of control, show the clip of him laughing about “shovel ready”... etc. I am sure there are dozens of other examples.

OK, last night Obama convinced me that it was all Bush’s fault. So let’s subtract from Obama’s 1500 billion dollar deficit, the impact of Bush’s bad economy on revenue,3%of GDP,( the difference between the historical level of tax revenue 18% and the current 15%) or 400 billion and then let’s subtract the cost of Bush’s war in Afghanistan 100 billion and let’s take another 200 billion just because Bush was so bad. That still leaves Obama with a 800 billion deficit and it also takes all the excuses out of his piehole, all except the corporate jet subsidy. So Barack why don’t you address that 800 billion through spending cuts and save this country from default.
Carefully look at what he said. He didn’t actually say the USA was the greatest country on Earth.
He said this is no way to run the greatest country on Earth.
He could have been referring to what HE views as the greatest country, whatever that is.

The obvious problem with that strategy is that we still have to pay for their spending after we boot them out. We should have been dragging our feet and protesting every spending bill.
