John F. Kerry almost became president running on the basis of his alleged heroism in Vietnam. Thanks to the efforts of a group of truth-tellers, the Swiftboat Veterans for Truth, the serious holes in the fantasy narrative propounded by the Kerry campaign came to the attention of enough Americans that John Kerry was not the first faux-Irish President of the United States.

Thanks for the ping...although I read the court docs and now I need my mind washed to get even the descriptions of the crap he finds enjoyable, out of it. It is very upsetting.

i tried to get the SWBV's site up but no joy. But If you remember, Kerry was in and out of country (short time) and back in the world as Naval Reserve. However he wasn't released after his six year obligation nor did he resign his comission. He was still in well into Carter's administration. Legal Hold I suspect.

Back in 2004, there were a few old articles I found that talked about how Sanders was helping other vets get awards that they may have deserved but were not requested by their superiors. I wonder if they uncovered a broader problem than just his Silver Star. It would be hard for my opinion of him to be lowered — but that would do it.
