Michele Bachmann heading to California in September Michele Bachmann is planning a trip to California in September, headlining the state GOP's convention: Bachmann's presence is sure to electrify the three day gathering of more than 1,000 California GOP activists from September 16-18 at the JW Marriot in LA Live, Los Angeles.
The presence of the Minnesota Congresswoman, he predicted, will be soaked up by GOP activists because "she fills an enthusiasm gap in California.'' Bachmann is the first GOP presidential candidate to agree to attend the big state convention scheduled the same month as a major televised presidential debate at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley to be co-sponsored by Politico and NBC News. The state GOP is inviting other candidates, and Bachmann probably won't be the lone headliner. But it's a great earned-media opportunity in a delegate-rich and expensive state, and one filled with the types of high-dollar bundlers she's been hoping to make inroads with.
By MAGGIE HABERMAN | 7/25/11 2:40 PM EDT "She is total energy,'' said state GOP chair Tom Del Beccaro, when we asked him this morning about Bachmann's decision to come to the nation's most populous state for a major 2012 campaign gig. "She'll be a rock star. She'll ignite the place.''
I don’t expect much on the conservatism front from California but it has to be done I suppose. I think she’ll do best here in the midwest.
I am sure a GOP Convention in Cali will be well attended.

I don’t think the locale matters that much. I assure you, there are enough Conservatives in California to give her a great reception. 35% (or so, last I heard of registered Republicans) is not 0% — 35% of 36 million is still 12.2 million.
Well, to do the math properly, it should be 35,999,999 — I am leaving California forever, effective 2 months from now (that is when escrow closes on my North Irving/Valley Ranch/Riverwalk house).
There’s plenty of conservatives in south California.
Anything else you'd like to add to the discussion?
In before the “stalking horse for Romney” crowd...
I figured there was a large amount of GOP’ers out there. Just look at how many you have in elected office. State and Federal.
I think the new talking point on a Mittens stalking horse needs to include Pawlenty. Especially the way he handled the Bachmann Migraine questions.
There’s just something not right with little Timmy.
I hope she does well,Smart Gutsy,Pretty and hates Commies.
Plenty in NorCal too, outside of the Bay Area and the GovDroneZone (Sacramento-Davis). The most Republican district in the state is in Placer County next to Sacramento, with a great Rep. in Tom McClintock. I moved from that district to the next one over a couple years ago, and the Rep here is Dan Lungren who is pretty good too. There just aren’t enough of us in the state to overcome LA and SF.
assuming she is still in the race at that point!
