Boehner Calls Rush Limbaugh, Gives Details of Negotiations With Reid, McConnell
Monday, July 25, 2011 | Kristinn

Rush Limbaugh said Speaker of the House John Boehner phoned him this morning around 10:30 to brief him on the latest news about his negotiations with Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell to raise the nation's debt ceiling.

Limbaugh told about the conversation on his nationally syndicated radio program. Boehner said there is a two-tier plan in the works. Step one would cut $1.1 trillion in spending with a $1 trillion increase in the debt that would get the government to April 2012 with no tax increases.

The next tier would be recommended cuts by a joint House-Senate committee made by twelve members, six from each chamber with three each appointed by each leader, Boehner, Reid, McConnell and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi.

Limbaugh said that McConnell is now on the same page as Boehner.

For those of you who think the GOP can be reformed, do you have a target date to accomplish this miracle, or is your patience infinite? Serious question. Of course this cycle is too close, but the question remains...

In life there is no guarantee of anything. All anyone can do is work hard, strategize and learn from one's mistakes.

Boehner and the House have done remarkably well with what they've been given to work with.

It's now up to us to give them more to work with in 2012...a Senate majority and the WH.

What are your plans to make that happen...and what is your schedule?

Save your energy, people! Nothing has happened yet!

Yes, they are tiring and monotonous.

Let me try and understand this deficit increase fight. The Obama administration needs to borrow another 2.5 trillion dollars from the Chinese in order to pay on the outstanding 14.5 trillion debt?

Did I get that right? The government is demanding to borrow an additional 2.5 trillion to pay on 14.5 trillion dollars!

Let us all go to the local bank and borrow money to pay off our credit cards and we all can expect to be placed in a jail cell right next to Bernie Madoff for operating a ponzi scheme an committing bank fraud!

Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesh!

It's gone well past pathetic and into sublime. I've been here since early 1998 and have never seen FR this full of knee-jerk screamers and that's saying something considering how bloody the 2000 election season was...

Thank you God! I'm not alone!

But, nothing will come of it so long as the Senate is controlled by Democrats and RINOs...

True. But for Barry, it's political poison.

Immediately it is to vote for whoever is the most conservative candidate who appears, within reason, and regardless of party. e.g. a Romney selection is unacceptable. This is hit and miss damage control of course and will only slow down what is now a half century of national decay, and near century of declining freedom in this country. Lots of license, little freedom.

Meanwhile, wait for the inevitable failure of the GOP to be anything other than the smaller, weaker big government and small liberty party that it is. In tandem with that, wait for the remote possibility that the magical thinking crowd might realize that the GOP - as an institution - is anything other than a deliberate distraction and diversion for conservative effort, money and votes. Hopefully, 2012 will be enlightening to Dr. Pangloss and the Pollyanna choir, but I doubt it.

Continue to connect with those who recognize the two factions of the single government party are tacit colleagues, and that both need each other to maintain the status quo. Continue to ridicule cheerleaders, wardheelers, toadies and commissars, whether they are Bolshevik Ds or Menshevik Rs.

At a more personal level, I am presently prepared and preparing for escalating systemic failures in the near and middle terms, and possibly emigration in the long term if the decline continues and the option remains.

That works for me. Whether it works for you or not is of course of no consequence whatever.

One thing I will not be doing, is betting the farm on some alchemy that will turn the GOP and the Washington government into everything they have frustrated, opposed and diminished for generations: States’ rights and individual freedom.

From day one I've thought of this as Carter's second term. Saw an artice recently that speculated Oblama was more Gorbachev than Carter...fighting to stave off collapse of a corrupt system.

I've come to this realization only recently. It occurred to me everything that these elitist snobs are doing is against the will and culture of America. They imposed obamacare. They are trying to impose the unionization of all work places through the NLRB. They are crippling us in energy with the goal that we will have to use wind and solar even though they can't handle the capacity. All this is being done against our will as if it will stand once they are out of power.

The Tea Party is just the beginning. The States are voting to nullify obamacare and are opting out of it. We will be free of this within another election.

With all my heart I hope and pray that you are correct in this.

"You gotta show folks that you’ll fight now with what you have—the House—”

I agree. The first debt ceiling increase with spending cuts ... it’s a start.

Can't say fairer than that! I'm with you!
