Mitt Romney changes tactics (Romney says economic malaise "not all the result of" Obama)

SALT LAKE CITY — Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney is taking a new approach to hammering Pres. Barack Obama and campaigning in Iowa.

Romney seems to be choosing his words more carefully as he verbally attacks Obama, Politico concludes in an article published Thursday. The piece compares a Romney campaign stop in Pennsylvania last month with his visit Wednesday to Southern California.

"Romney spoke Wednesday in front of a long-defunct mall near Los Angeles, and repeatedly pointed out that the mall's closure wasn't entirely Obama's fault. 'Obviously, the challenges here are not all the result of the current administration,' Romney said, waving at the building behind him.

“Obviously, the challenges here are not all the result of the current administration”

One can only conclude he is referring to himself as a member of the crony-capitalism establishment, just as you pointed out. So, he shoots himself in the foot, explaining why his campaign is moribund, and why he is unelectable. Nice going.

All we need now is for Jeb to get in the race and then we’ll have a real battle of the RINO’s.

No. It’s not the trade deals, trade is a good thing.

The bad thing is we open our markets to countries closed to us. We allow real and potential enemies to subvert our ability to manufacture our own national security-needed goods. (rare earth minerals, etc) Not because of any good reason but for PC, eco-nut, leftwing reasons.

Then our government even finds ways to literally subsidize corporations doing business overseas. (Market Promotion Program etc)

Then we lump high taxes and heavy handed regulations that pretty much force corporations to do their manufacturing overseas because doing it here is cost prohibitive.

Since when has Romney been opposed to crony capitalism? I think his Olympics thing showed him to be a master of it.

“Then we lump high taxes and heavy handed regulations that pretty much force corporations to do their manufacturing overseas because doing it here is cost prohibitive.”

Eliminating the corporate income tax on profits derived from manufacturing in the USA combined with slashing regulations will result in a renaissance in American manufacturing that will employ millions, reinvigorate the middle class and enhance national security. Don’t expect Mitt to be at the forefront of any such initiative. His buddies at Goldman are still making too much money from outsourcing US industry.

I think Romney’s best bet is to run as Vice President with Obama.

You can't be too overboard mean, but being nice loses elections. If your opponent is dead set on flinging mud, there is no other choice to fling mud right back. People will think the lone mud flinger is right. If Romney gets the nomination, bet are Obama will get realected.

There he goes agaian. Sure Barney Frank lit the fuse and mortgage securitization got it going but this has gone on for three years. The entire economic mess is caused by Obama's errors or the public's lack of faith or confidence in Obama. Both Republican and Democrat former Presidents knew that the way out of a recession is a major tax cut to get consumers spending to revive the economy.

Obama has had another agenda - to destroy the economy and plunder the treasury and redistribute our national wealth, not to restore the economy. He succeeded in HIS goals and as a result America suffers as the economy flounders in argument with the White House.

Obama should hide his face in shame forever.

If we had “trade” it would be a good thing.

We have outsourcing.

I think Mitt Romney will wind up as Obama’s VP on a Democrat-Republican ticket of national salvation, running against Palin-West.

Wow. That's some unconventional thinking, but I can see how it might come to that, in these times.

Mitt certainly has more in common with Obama, than he does with Palin and West.

Mitt never made a connection to the Tea Party, nor the resurgent patriotic right. This is why you never hear all that much from him. His real support lies among fat cat establishment donors, and woefully uninformed Republican voters.

There is NO groundswell of support for this man. His only hope, is to somehow be the last man standing in the primary, and get the nomination by default. Just like McCain did.

We cannot let this happen.
