Politico's Allen: Tax-Hiking 'Grand Bargain' Would Be Laudable 'Historic Achievement'
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

One more data point demonstrating the leftward tilt of the purportedly non-partisan Politico:

In his Playbook of today, Politico's chief White House correspondent Mike Allen depicts a "grand bargain" on the credit ceiling, which inevitably would include huge tax increases, as an "historic achievement" for which President Obama and House speaker John Boehner would "rightly get credit."

In contrast, Allen suggests that Republican leaders Eric Cantor and Kevin McCarthy are refusing a grand bargain out of personal political ambition.

Mike Allen’s column reveals Politico is just one more liberal rag. Tax-hiking ping to Today show list.

Folks who think raising taxes is some sort of laudable historic achievement are SICK.

Do not trust that man!

Given the state of our current economy a tax hike would create the Great Depression II.

The sack of Rome by the Visigoths was a historic achievement too.

I suppose it could be true, in that it would virtually guarantee the O-hole a second term to complete the decimation of the country. Caving by the GOP will result in its own demise...

True. Rush (on Thursday’s program) said the Speaker is Bamster’s lifeline. He’s also the GOP’s lifeline.

Mike Allen wants a tax increase?

Fine. I propose a new line in the current tax code: Any person named Mike Allen employed by the Politico organization, must pay 45% of his current wealth to the IRS and 95% of his income every year hereafter.

"Given the state of our current economy a tax hike would create the Great Depression II."

And again they'd blame the Republicans.

I have heard that part of this proposed “tax code restructuring” or whatever they are calling it is the elimination of the mortgage deduction. Is this true?

I agree we need " Shared Scarfice" .

Lets increase the number of taxpayers.

If you make more than 24,000 you need to pay some income tax.

No more Earned Income.

Means testing for Medicare should lowered.

Apparently eliminating the mortgage interest tax deduction is on the table:

Politico: President Obama and Speaker Boehner - one facing reelection, the other on the back nine of his legislative career"

If the Speaker is "on the back nine", Harry Reid is blottoed on the 19th hole. Even the most idiotic left wing economist will admit that you don't raise taxes in an economic downturn. Equally reckless, is raising taxes just as you are creeping out of an economic downturn. This is exactly what Reid and O'Bambi are trying to force down our throats.

Just so you folks know, Mike Allen does not have one drop of Objective and Honest blood flowing through his veins and body. He has been, and will always be, a left-wing, liberal, Democrat literally from the day he was brought into this world. “Politico” has seen its best days!!! Like the rest of the the Democrat “rag” sheets, it is declining both in fairness and objectiveness, and....is losing influence and readers as each day passe!!!

House speaker John Boehner would “rightly get credit.”

Funny way of putting, “Strung up on a length of stout hemp”, at least rhetorically speaking. If he would do something so lame brained, his best, probably only, future career opportunity would be as a beach bum in Belize, drinking cane whiskey out of the bottle.
