The War on Terror doesn’t make us safe any more than the War on Drugs keeps drugs off the streets. The thing that keeps rattling around my brain every time one of these major attacks takes place is that really this war is being waged in the wrong way entirely. Instead of invading Iraq, Afghanistan, and Libya, we should be following the money, going after the funders of extremists here and abroad. A lot of that money goes back to Saudi Arabia and other wealthy families in the Middle East, and of course they have ties to business and government here in the States and all over Europe as well. So it becomes very complicated.
Nevertheless, we should be going after terrorists the way we go after other international organized crime. The heavy lifting is the intelligence gathering and the rest of the tedious, even mundane, work that governments have to do in order to coordinate a counter-terrorist strategy across the globe. Bombing other countries and nation building will never work. If anything it will make matters worse.
This is a job for law enforcement.

It would work if we actually were fighting a war with the intent to kill people and break things, instead we are fighting a PC war which cannot work.
I’ll say it for the second time today.
We won WWII because we so totally defeated and demoralized the enemy. We can worry about winning hearts and minds if there are any left after winning the war.

It works when we fight it. Norway has regarded Muslim terrorism as a police matter all along, and in fact right now, they’re still not calling the attack terrorism and are referring to it as the “crime.”

Well, when they focus more on labeling soldiers, conservatives, and those who think the Constitution actually means something as ‘terrorists’ we have a problem.
They are focusing on oour own citizens instead of those who scream “allah ackbar” as they should be doing.

The five or so wars we are in are fly paper, but the other side is playing a long game, and winning.
Propaganda doesn't win wars. We would have won every war after WWII (and toppled the USSR) in six months if that were the case. Do you really think the mosque-goers listen to a word our side says?
To paraphrase Rush, the only way to win is to "Break things and kill people." Islam was stopped from conquering Europe at the battle of Tours not by propaganda, but by having Muslim body parts strewn over the French countryside.

Iraq war was sold on the basis of mushroom clouds and being welcomed with flowers for overthrowing their dictator with oil to pay for it all. Taking out the enemy of Iran was result of the war. Bullcrap.
Our war on terrorism creates more terrorists than it destroys. Hardly a winning formula.

The only way to win a war is to make things so ugly that the enemy will stop. Total extermination may be the only means to accomplish the goal. Dying to them is matyrdom; make them all martyrs and let Allah sort it out!
