McAllen, TX -- Gone are the days when a kid could make a few extra bucks by selling lemonade on the corner of their street. These days, it's against the law.
A 12-year-old girl and her little brother were just trying to earn a few dollars for their two hermit crabs when a city code enforcement officer in Texas came and shut them down.
The officer told their grandmother that the children needed a permit to sell lemonade, and their grandmother was ticketed for the offense.
"I was mad," the 12-year-old said. "I don't understand why someone would want to do that to two kids and their grandma."
........but let the illegals set up roadkill filled taco or tamale carts where ever there’s a vacant spot to park and see if they ever get closed down and ticketed.
On the one hand, I am glad that crime is so low that the cops have time to go after lemonade stands. /sarc
But IMHO, they need to shut down the cops and the city, not the lemonade stand.
Geez. Where did this country go so wrong?
I want to know who called the code enforcement. They don’t just drive around looking for lemonade stands.
When it started turning its back on God.
When it started turning its back on God.
“It was Georgia the other day and now Texas”.
Add Maryland as well. They pulled this stunt.
Exactly! Well put.

Lemonade stand shut down by police

Five-Oh just wants a taste to whet its whistle.
“I don’t understand why someone would want to do that to two kids and their grandma.”
Honey, all leftist thought is of and from Satan. Some people explain it as a mental disorder, but it’s more in the way of a spiritual disorder.
The things we are coming to these days! Oy oy oy.
I predicted last year this would be next under Obama next will be police shutting down the girl scouts and brownies selling cookies. If they would just ban the people that knock on your door to say they know when Jesus is coming and to wear tennis shoes I could be happy. Oh and the kids that sell donuts in front of the Piggly Wiggly they are a pain.
Don’t mess with Texas was nothing more than an anti-littering campaign slogan from the late 80’s, early 90’s. It was the out of staters that thought that saying was some grand declaration of state pride. Nowadays, between the carpetbaggers, illegals, and kaliformunists, Texas has been homogenized to the point of unrecognizability from when I grew up. We are just another stupid state with delusions of grandure.
Ditto. I can’t wait for all the commiecrats to crawl back to hell with Obama.
I don’t see one thing wrong with a kid having a lemonade stand. For one thing, it shows them the true nature of capitalism. Have a product that people want and they get cash. They can also learn about expenses of the product vs. the “salary”. That is, the lemonade, cups etc... have to be purchased. I will admit that I am not a lemonade lover but have given kids quarters for “their business enthusiasm”. I plan on doing that more for kids “who are rogue” when it comes to having “illegal” lemonade stands. Sheesh!
Can you pull over and pick the state flower on I20 or is it still a crime?
Wow...that’s really sad to hear. Because I was always counting on Texas.
DISCLAIMER: it turns out that this article is kids selling at a public pool. But the rest were in their front yards and I think some of those states apologized.
I totally agree!
