McAllen, TX -- Gone are the days when a kid could make a few extra bucks by selling lemonade on the corner of their street. These days, it's against the law.
A 12-year-old girl and her little brother were just trying to earn a few dollars for their two hermit crabs when a city code enforcement officer in Texas came and shut them down.
The officer told their grandmother that the children needed a permit to sell lemonade, and their grandmother was ticketed for the offense.
"I was mad," the 12-year-old said. "I don't understand why someone would want to do that to two kids and their grandma."
It was Georgia the other day and now Texas? This is just so wrong.
In Texas? Have we sunk that low? Boy do we need a reset or what.....
Well...If they had tried to sell it as something hispanic in nature, that code enforcement officer would have stopped by to buy a glass or two...

I think I know a way McAllen could increase revenues to the tune of about $80,000 a year. Get rid of the city code enforcement officer position. In fact, the more city code enforcement officers the city has, the more money they could save with this move!
Set up a table for donations. Serve free lemonade.

Open the stand back up, give the lemonade away and have a tip jar.
As the end of an era Freedom is over. It is a fantasy we play along like we are free, and yet we have these petty bureaucrats that constantly troll our lives and regulate us into submission.
We allowed our politicians (Democrat and Republican) to destroy the freedoms we once had as a nation and a people.
I 1774 in Boston I bet that Sam Adams didn’t need to have a license to sell beer, or bottle, or ship, or store. Now try that, try to sell a cookie at a bake sale. Try to sell anything that isn’t regulated to death.
We lost this fight.

They were selling lemonade at a city swimming pool. To allow this would be government subsidized business. They should have been shut down. Now, if it was on their front yard, it would be different.
