North Korea claimed that seven North Koreans are walking in a flooded street in this July 15 photo North Korea’s Korean Central News Agency took, which it provided to AP. In the photo, residents walk in knee-deep water, but photo experts suspect the photo of being retouched, citing the relatively dry clothes of the residents as evidence. [YONHAP]

Let me ask a dumb question.

What do the NORKs gain by sending out fake flood pics?

Are they expecting some sympathy from the “world”?

The story doesn’t go into motives, but I will:

Communist states need to invent phony natural disasters to explain their failures.

These appear to be well-dressed, well-fed people walking in NK. It looks like one guy has a good pair of shoes while another has a good set of leather boots. The bike looks almost new.
Where can you find all that in NK?

"The Associated Press has withdrawn a photo... claiming that signs of digital manipulation were detected."

Yet there will be no questioning of Hussein's PDF birth certificate.

The picture is so bad it is silly. It LOOKS lide the figures were pasted onto the water. The surace of the water is obvioulsy in motion but there is no disturbance where the bodies connect with the surface of the water. It seems to be simple cut and paste.
