Bachmann: Yes, I experience migraines, but so do 30 million other Americans

GOP presidential hopeful and Minnesota Republican Rep. Michele Bachmann today released the following statement to respond to reports that she experiences “incapacitating” migraines:

Like nearly 30 million other Americans, I experience migraines that are easily controlled with medication. I am a wife, a mother, a lawyer who worked her way through law school, a former state senator who achieved the repeal of a harmful piece of education policy in Minnesota, and a congresswoman who has worked tirelessly fighting against the expansion of government and wasteful spending.

“Since entering the campaign, I have maintained a full schedule between my duties as a congresswoman and as a presidential candidate traveling across the nation to meet with voters in the key, early primary and caucus states of Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina. I have prescription medication that I take whenever symptoms arise and they keep the migraines under control. Let me be abundantly clear – my ability to function effectively has never been impeded by migraines and will not affect my ability to serve as Commander in Chief.

IMO West is an ideal POTUS.It will all boil down to Perry/Rubio with Christie as a possibility. Christie will be what stops Trump from playing the game again.

If the media were actually concerned about the effects of migraines, they would also be concerned about the debilitating effects of treason by Zerobama and his regime.

I remember when Fla. Gov. Lawton Chiles (Dem, of course) was on Prozac. Always looked a little spaced out, yet no one seemed to care.

MBDS members have a circle high five

the bashing of Bachmann while FR harpies wait for Sarah to announce has gotten silly to watch....almost entertaining

About 17 million Americans (8% of adults) suffer from depression. The Marines don't want them, ever. You will never be a Marine if you need to take a pill because you feel depressed. A real Marine CAUSES depression, they don't suffer from it.

Fair or not, Marines and Presidents are held to a higher standard. Not sure where Migraines fall on the scale, depending upon the frequency and severity I suppose. But this IS an issue.

I agree. This is a non issue, amazing that it’s gotten so much press.

I used to have migraines, grew out of them, I guess. Only twice were they severe enough to make me lie down with an ice bag.

I think there are wide variations in the severity of migraines. I never missed a day of work because of them, although I did experience days of misery at work.

But no one noticed because it didn’t actually affect my work.

I say all this as someone who does not support Michele for president but let’s be fair.

The Marines would never take a man who had no use of his legs and had to be pushed in a wheel chair (FDR) either. By the time JFK was president, his back was so bad, he would be in agony for days. A number of presidents had ailments that would have made them unfit for Marine Corp service.

Physical ailments are one thing.

Mental or emotional ailments are an entirely different kettle of fish.

As I said, I an unsure where Migraines (if frequent and severe) fall on the spectrum, but this IS an issue.

I have known a number of people with migraine issues, it does not impair ones ability to think cognitively. It is an issue of pain. I also have known polio victims, and severe back pain sufferers and their pain is no less severe and no less debilitating.

It is not a different kettle at all. Bachmann is as fit as anyone to serve. It is a non-issue to destroy her as a candidate and I refuse to be drawn into this debate.

Do you not see a pattern here? First her church and now her migraines. Next she stubs her toes. It is a trap and it is generated by hateful ideologues who want her candidacy dead. I don’t care if she is the candidate, but the left can and will do this kind of attack on any Republican challenger.

Did you think that 0bama and his church were also not an issue?

To me, hatred of America itself is a bigger issue than hatred of Catholicism, but it IS an issue.

‘Did you think that 0bama and his church were also not an issue?’

Aren’t you concerned that you are being ‘played’ and manipulated?

Of course they (her church) were an issue, but how can you compare “pray the gay away” with the mind numbing hate whitey rants of the black ‘social justice’ churches of the south side of Chicago. I knew huge numbers of Lutherans living in the Chicago area growing up, and a fair number of black ‘cracker-haters’ from the south side. One is a smart attorney that believes in life and family, the other is one step shy of firing an AK 47 into the crowd at a Tea Party rally.

I didn't mention the “pray the gay away” therapy of her husband, that is entirely different than her belonging to a Church that taught (not sure how extensive this is, written down somewhere and forgotten about, or preached from the pulpit) that the Pope is the AntiChrist - the focus of Satanic power here on Earth - and thus millions of Americans are ostensibly Satan worshipers.

THAT is an issue. Not as big an issue as rampant hate for America preached from the pulpit (God DAMN America. Amer -K-K-K-a. etc, etc.) - but it IS an issue.

“Pray the gay away” is a different issue.

I hate to tell you this, but a great many evangelical Christians regard the Catholic church as Satanic. That is a far cry from the unabashed vitriol, demands for social engineering, and Jew hatred coming from the mouths of the Churches of the sort that Rev. Wright was the leader of. The marxist black thugs from Oakland, Detroit, Chicago, Atlanta, Cleveland (mostly) black ‘social justice’ churches are are a clear and present danger to the US.

If we wish to go in this direction, lord protect us from the kinds of things that Mitt Romney’s Mormon base believes in and will get hammered for as we near election time.

I think all of this is a NON-issue. We are debating these things while the White House is killing this country. I don’t care if Bachmann, Palin, Romney, Pawlenty, Perry, Cain or fill-in-the-blank generic Republican takes the White House, but just as long as the current bunch of thugs and their thug friends are evicted- and prosecuted.

If that is the case, then a great many evangelical Christians that regard the Catholic Church as Satanic (and the Pope as the Antichrist) will never be, and are unqualified for, the Presidency.

I fear you are going to be very disappointed in almost any future presidential candidate as they will all have something they are associated with that will make them ‘tainted’

Unless of course, they meet whatever litmus test for Catholicism.

Enjoy your 4 more years of Obama

I’m a guy and I get them. My sister gets them, and so do at least three of my coworkers. So long as you take your medicine at the first signs of an onset, or shortly thereafter, you will be fine.

You mistake me FRiend; I am not a Catholic, nor to I apply a Catholic litmus test.

I am a reasonable person, and I apply the reasonable person test.

No reasonable person thinks the modern day focus of Satanic power in the world is the Pope, that the Pope is the Antichrist is not a reasonable position, nor would a person with that belief be reasonably expected to adequately represent the 24% of Americans who are Catholic.
