Software Designer Reports Error in Anthony Trial
New York Times ^ | 07-19-11

MIAMI — Assertions by the prosecution that Casey Anthony conducted extensive computer searches on the word “chloroform” were based on inaccurate data, a software designer who testified at the trial said Monday.

The designer, John Bradley, said Ms. Anthony had visited what the prosecution said was a crucial Web site only once, not 84 times, as prosecutors had asserted. He came to that conclusion after redesigning his software, and immediately alerted prosecutors and the police about the mistake, he said.

The finding of 84 visits was used repeatedly during the trial to suggest that Ms. Anthony had planned to murder her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee, who was found dead in 2008. Ms. Anthony, who could have faced the death penalty, was acquitted of the killing on July 5.

The term was searched once yet the prosecution said 84. Law requires exculpatory evidence to be presented to the court, and the prosecution did not present it. One and 84 are very different. You bet the prosecution is in legal trouble now.

“You bet the prosecution is in legal trouble now.”

No, trial over. Government employee protection.

So why did Cindy Anthony claim to have done ALL 84 searches?

Might have been grounds for a mistrial had she been convicted.

Not only are 1 and 84 different, they are TOO different to be called a mistake.

Doesn't matter...this is about a tiny, helpless little girl, tape, a bag, 31 days and a mother her never reported her missing.

Maybe they counted all the automatic image requests that browsers make when they visit a site. The first request is for the html and then there would be more for the images.

The egregious abuse of “prosecutorial discretion” is the result of “prosecutorial immunity”.

Where there is no accountability, behavior deteriorates.

Jail the bachelor’s children who suppressed exculpatory evidence.

What’s the difference? Once, twice 84x’s. I’ve been online since 1994 or so. I love medical information, always looking medical things up, my nickname around the family is Dr. Mom. With all the medical, nutrition(I was into health nutrition and bodybuilding starting back in the early 80’s), and just my curiosity about things(I’m always looking something up) I have never one time looked up the word chloroform. And I don’t know anyone who has. With the smell of chloroform in the car, the one look up on the Anthony computer and a dead baby. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out 2+2=4

Fascinating. This should have large and far-reachings ramifications in computer forensics.

I thought Cindy said she was the one who did the search too? Did the defense say Casey didn’t do the searches?

Look up chloroform...you're going to be surprised at the very common ingredients. You can't buy it!!

Once sounds more likely then 84....because it's sooooo dangerous.

Someone should have questioned the 84....becaause it makes "0" sense.

Why the need for the prosecution not being truthful? They must think there is a difference.

I dunno...my point is that Cindy lied about doing something that it’s now revealed never actually happened.

Didn’t the g-ma say she was searching things to do with her dogs and looked up chloroform once? Thought I remembered seeing that. I only watched the trial once and that was the day she was on the stand.

I agree, the mom didn’t handle things the right way, even IF she didn’t do it. I always thought she was knocking the little girl out so she would sleep while mommy dearest did the party scene. Think she just overdid it once and the little girl didn’t wake up.

That being said, everyone in this country deserves a “fair trial”. These prosecutors should be fired and disbarred.
I sure wouldn’t want them in court trying to hang me.

She claimed she searched for the word, but she added that she could not vouch for what her computer did — as if computers make searches on their own (which sometimes they do.) My point is that this WAS in evidence. I heard it with my own ears.

And since she drowned in the pool by accident the little girl automatically was ducktaped and thrown in a bag(s) in the woods. Makes perfect sense to me. No one should question how that happened either.
