The man who played a major role in revitalizing Las Vegas is bashing President Barack Obama as the greatest wet blanket to business, progress and job creation in my lifetime.
Speaking to investors on a Monday conference call, casino developer Steve Wynn - calling himself a Democratic businessman - went on an extended rant against Obama and his policies.
His customers and the companies he works with are frightened of this administration, he said, and it makes you slow down and not invest your money. Everybody complains about how much money is on the side in America.
Until we change the tempo and the conversation from Washington, its not going to change, added Wynn, according to a transcript of the calls question-and-answer session. And those of us who have business opportunities and the capital to do it are going to sit in fear of the President. And a lot of people dont want to say that. Theyll say, God, dont be attacking Obama. Well, this is Obamas deal and its Obama thats responsible for this fear in America.
Wynn, who has donated to Vice President Joe Biden and a mix of Democratic and Republican candidates in recent years, described himself as a Democratic businessman during the call. In 2008, he gave $2,300 to Sen. John McCain, Obamas Republican opponent. Earlier in the cycle, he maxed out at $4,600 in donations to Bidens campaign.
I support Harry Reid, he said. I support Democrats and Republicans. And Im telling you that the business community in this company is frightened to death of the weird political philosophy of the President of the United States. And until hes gone, everybodys going to be sitting on their thumbs.
I believe in Las Vegas. I think its best days are ahead of it. But Im afraid to do anything in the current political environment in the United States, he said. You watch television and see whats going on on this debt ceiling issue. And what I consider to be a total lack of leadership from the President and nothings going to get fixed until the President himself steps up and wrangles both parties in Congress.
Obama, Wynn added, keeps making speeches about redistribution and maybe we ought to do something to businesses that dont invest, their holding too much money. We havent heard that kind of talk except from pure socialists. Everybodys afraid of the government and theres no need soft peddling it, its the truth. It is the truth.
Conversion?
Sounds more like a sureptious clinton attack...
name a democrat (allegedly) good for business?
this is hard hitting...I love how he stresses that he is a Democrat (ok, wish he weren’t..but still....)
Just another socialist/communist supporter that is appalled when socialism/communism starts effecting private business. What a tool!
Why would any property owner be afraid of Barack Hussein Mugabe?
Fun (and profitable?) until you start to run out of other people’s money.
Obama will be worse AFTER he leaves office, IMHO.
What to do about the millions that support his ideology?
He’s a Democrat and he doesn’t like Obama’s pursuing Democrat policies and ideology. Obama is the apotheosis of Democrat thinking and ideals.
“Just another socialist/communist supporter that is appalled when socialism/communism starts effecting private business. What a tool!”
“The Capitalists will sell us the rope with which we will hang them with.”
V. I. Lenin
What? A Democrat who doesn’t like Democrat policies?
Did he really give up his adolescent fantasy of revolution and the macho-man Che-Power that comes with it?
IMHO
I support Harry Reid, he said.
ROTFLMAO, Wynn understands who the boss is.
Harry Reid, boss tweed of nevada... no wynn is pro-business and really supports reid. he is just kissing the godfather’s ring.
oops.. should be “no way wynn”
Well then, Mr. Wynn, with all due respect, your next move has to be to spend some of your millions under your rights confirmed in the Citizens United case, and start pushing this message on ESPN, TBS, Lifetime, and other places where the great Skulls Full O’ Mush might actually hear it.
Saying it on a Conference Call with two dozen of your associates who already agree with you ain’t gonna git ‘er done.
Bravo Mr Wynn.
Kill them and place their heads on pikes as a warning to the future.
;-P
