Stress-related condition ‘incapacitates’ Bachmann; heavy pill use alleged

In late July 2010, Rep. Michele Bachmann’s then-communications director, Dave Dziok, told his boss that he planned to take a new job with the public relations firm Edelman.

Dziok had worked for Bachmann for two and a half years, a relatively long period by the standards of her office, and was leaving on good terms.

Staff turnover can frustrate any employer, but Bachmann responded more dramatically. Dziok’s departure triggered a debilitating medical episode that landed the congresswoman in urgent care.

“Within 24 hours she was in the hospital,” a former aide says.

Bachmann was admitted to a Washington, D.C. hospital on Friday, July 30, and released that same day. She flew home to Minnesota to recuperate, missing a scheduled campaign event with Sen. Roy Blunt.

I don’t like TPaw, but bus tours are nothing new for candidates. Mitch Daniels did bus tours while running for Governor.

Palin’s bus tour has never made it yet to Iowa.

“When she gets ‘em, frankly, she can’t function at all. It’s not like a little thing with a couple Advils. It’s bad,” the adviser says. “The migraines are so bad and so intense, she carries and takes all sorts of pills. Prevention pills. Pills during the migraine. Pills after the migraine, to keep them under control. She has to take these pills wherever she goes.”

It is not clear to me exactly what she takes. However, it is normal for a migraine sufferer to have all their pills with them all the time in case of an attack.

I used to have them frequently back when I was in college. I have them much less frequently now (started the day Friday with one, in fact). Some people have a worse time of it than others. The only part that is debilitating for me is the beginning of the attack, when you get the "aura" effect. That's when your vision gets "holes" in it and you see a strobing herringbone pattern. That lasts (for me) about 20-30 minutes. Once that clears up, the headache proper begins. Becuase I do not get them often anymore, I do not take a prescription for it I have enough prescriptions as it is). I take an herb called Feverfew every day in an attempt to keep from getting migraines. I take a natural migraine remedy when I do get one.

The best remedy is to go to bed and sleep it off. However, I seldom miss work for one.

Most people take Imitrex for migraines. People who have them really, really bad may take a lot of medication. It is not clear from the article exactly what Bachmann takes.

The Duke of Marlborough, one of the half-dozen or so most brilliant generals in military history, was affected by debilitating migraines.

He’s got the name and the tie. If he also parted his name on the side it would be a trifecta of some sort...

The DC has been very kind to Myth. They also take every opportunity to slam Palin and Bachmann. That is one reason there is some speculation as to who ginned this up. Pawlenty being the source for this also doesn’t seem to make sense since Mittens has a track record for dealing from under the deck and Paws is a seemingly nice guy. If Bachmann goes down, Myth and Cain will be the beneficiaries.

The only folks that think Bachmann and Myth are connected are a small but very vocal group of Palinistas. I don’t think it is a predominant thought here even though most Bachmann threads get highjacked within minutes with conspiracy theories.

Obviously you don’t follow the news — TPaw kind of diss Palin for her bus tour and now he is following suit with his own bus tour that looks almost like Palin bus and yes, I know that Palin hasn’t used her bus tour in Iowa, I was talking about that’s where Timmy is going

Stress is the cause according to unnamed aides who are probably not physicians.

She isn’t my idea of a president anyway but this is just somebody looking to derail her.

Why are you people so surprised. 5 years in Congress , she comes from out of nowhere to near frontrunner. Now she is being vetted and you guys wouldn't believe it if she was caught proof positive in a satanic ritual. You guys are acting like the Obama voters , not believing anything about Bachmann until it is way too late.

Romney did that to Palin during the last election.

Romney did a lot of smearing in '08, but I don't think it was against Palin. Mittens was dead and buried well before McLame was nominated and Palin was announced VP.

This Bachmann is Unfit thing wreaks of a Romney whisper campaign. He is the only one running that has a tendency towards ginning up this garbage.

If she was being vetted for the VP spot , she would not make the short list with the bag of issues she has. My bet is , there is a lot more than what we have seen this week. Freepers won’t believe any of it , even the things that turn out true but unfortunately , we don’t decide elections or even the nomination on this forum. The folks that do decide elections have marked Bachmann off their list. You should hear people talk , they think she’s nuts.

Perhaps she is stressed over her poor fund raising numbers? Knowing that when Sarah announces she will rake in millions upon millions.

Big deal. Why worry?

Besides, this thread is about drug drooling conservative Michele Bachmann./sarc TPaw hasn’t said nice things about her either, and it was far more painful than quibbling over a bus tour.

Sounds like she went to the ER for her migraine. If it is very bad they commonly provide an injection of dilaudid that will break the headache.

Has anyone seen a medical report or history on Obama recently or ever, except for the “virtual colonoscopy” he received; that is unavailable to people on medicare/medicaid.

Romney operatives have been suspected of sabotaging the McCain/Palin ticket, with an eye toward keeping Romney viable in 2012. Nothing ever proven, of course, but a lot of the "leaks" about the internals of the campaign, especially stuff about Palin, come from Romney loyalists.

You’re the one making a big deal out of it! I was talking to Peyton Randolph, who said that this MB story might help Pawlenty and I just made a small blurb that he won’t gain anything because of his lack of charisma and mentioned that he is doing a bus tour

I thought Freepers were more creative than this.

Bill Clinton was notorious for leaking personally negative information. Allowed him to create a villain or change expectations or direct the narrative.

This story is innocuous. It benefits no body this far out. It could just as easily be coming out of Bachmann's campaign for the same reasons BC used to. And perhaps Rollins wants to say, "See, Michele has been attached just as much as Governor Palin was" (of course that is absurd, but note the timing of these attacks relative to the release of "The Undefeated")

Could you point to any evidence that any of this is true? This isn't vetting. It is a straight up hit piece with zero evidence or corroboration. Some unnamed somebody is saying something and the writer is adding these bits of rumor up and spinning a yarn.

It is interesting that a rabid Bachmann hater like yourself would need to hype flimsy stuff like this to make a point.

It was the mittens campaign people who moved over to the McCain camp.

Pinging the guy I know with the most ready documentation of this.

TPaw can’t get no satis”traction” in the polls. He has no great options other than go at the other “contenders”.

There will be so much more of this stuff to come. The 2012 race is going to be the ugliest ever.

I agree TPaw lacks fire and personality.
