DNC attacks RNC’s call for Obama ad investigation: ‘Disgraceful, desperate and ...
Daily Caller ^ | 7/18/11 | Matthew Boyle

The Democratic National Committee jabbed at the Republican National Committee Monday for calling on the Justice Department to investigate whether President Obama had used the White House to record a political advertisement.

The RNC requested an investigation after reports surfaced that Obama may have used government property to film a political advertisement. The spot is an indirect request by the president for people to contribute $5 or more for the chance of “Dinner with Barack and Joe [Biden].”

“This is a disgraceful, desperate and politically-motivated attempt at getting headlines by a Republican Party awash in special interest cash which is fighting to preserve tax breaks for millionaires and billionaires at the expense of seniors,” DNC spokesman Brad Woodhouse said in a statement.

“This is also an effort to distract from the fact that the President has run the most open and transparent White House and campaign ever while the GOP and its candidates could not survive without being in the pockets of big oil, insurance companies and other special interests,” Woodhouse added.

RNC chairman Reince Priebus asked Attorney General Eric Holder to investigate where the ad was filmed and whether it was legal. “According to multiple individuals with knowledge of the White House’s rooms and layout, the video appears to have been recorded in the Map Room,” Priebus wrote to Holder. “According to news reports, however, the White House Counsel has indicated that the video was filmed somewhere in the residential portion of the White House.”

Woodhouse brushes Priebus’s allegations off as “political games” and calls on the GOP to “come clean and tell the American people who exactly among their special interest backers they are working for to end Medicare, slash student loans and place more burdens on the middle class in exchange for preserving tax breaks for corporate lobbyists, corporate jet owners and hedge fund managers.”

To heck with that. I want them investigated for running guns to Mexican drug dealers and Central American gangs resulting in people, including Federal employees, being killed. I want them impeached, convicted, removed from office, prosecuted, convicted and imprisoned.

Let the DNC put that in their pipe and smoke it.

The RNC must have hit pay dirt. The Dems always act the same when their hands are in a cookie jar when they’re caught.

I wish our side had the balls to fight back this hard.

Let me explain something: the rules are for you little people. Not big, rich important liberals like us.

Now pay your taxes - we need raises. :)

“I wish our side had the balls to fight back this hard. “

If anybody on our side ever “fought back this hard” by saying such an asinine blatantly false statement with a straight face, they would lose my respect for all time.

We'll take that trade, if you Dems will reveal your cash conduits from the SEIU, the Chicoms, George Soros and the Kremlin.

Opinion poll: who here thinks that last line deserves a /sarc> tag?

Cheers!

He went on to say, "This is just the kind of crap WE would pull. They should be ashamed!"

it’s an illegal lottery and Obama did the same thing in 2008. Several states’ attorney generals informed his campaign of this at the time. They said they would correct it but never did.

Repeat offender needs to be jailed.

Obama contest rules changed to avoid lottery issues ( Change )
Rocky Mountain News ^ | July 8, 2008 | Sara Burnett

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2042740/posts

Barack Obama’s campaign changed the rules of a highly publicized fundraiser Tuesday, after gambling regulators said the contest — a chance at one of 10 trips to the Democratic National Convention — was an illegal lottery.

“We are happy to have resolved this issue working closely with state officials,” said Nick Kimball, spokesman for the Obama campaign ...

A spokesman for the Colorado Secretary of State said Democrats would have to get a license if they were conducting “a standard raffle where they’re buying tickets” in order to win.

But under the new rules, supporters don’t have to donate money to win one of the trips...

Obama Campaign’s Cosmetic Correction of Allegedly Illegal Lottery
The Husaria: For Our Freedom and Yours ^ | 07/16/08 | Winged Hussar 1683

The most recent E-mail we received from the Obama campaign seems to contain the three elements that constitute a lottery. (Not legal advice, we are not attorneys.)

1. Payment of consideration (a donation of any size to the Obama campaign, with $25.00 being recommended)

2. An element of chance (lucky winners will be picked to meet with Obama in person)

3. A prize (a personal meeting with Barack Obama)

WorldNetDaily reports (http://www.worldnetdaily.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=69150), in fact, that the Obama campaign previously modified its donation Web page to remove the need to send any money because of exactly this issue but today, July 16, it again asked for money in exchange for a chance to meet with Barack Obama. Only well down on the donation page itself (NOT in the E-mail solicitation) does it say you can enter the drawing without making a donation. It seems to us that the Obama campaign did the absolute minimum it thought necessary to avoid the promotion of an allegedly illegal lottery, while continuing to send E-mails that ask for donations (consideration) in exchange for a chance (element of luck) to go to Colorado and meet Barack Obama (prize).

[The fundraising solicitation appears in the linked article]

...The statement “Now the campaign has added a statement to the fundraising website that says, “If you do not wish to make a donation but would like to participate in this program, you can still be selected to join Barack at the Democratic National Convention in Denver by clicking here” is indeed true, but this does NOT appear in the E-mail solicitation. Our perspective is therefore that the Obama campaign made the minimal possible changes (i.e. cosmetic only, as opposed to a good faith effort) it thought it had to make to avoid promoting a potentially illegal lottery.
