I suppose this is just, well, the sad rantings of a senior citizen. But O schadenfreude, you capricious sprite!:
Actress Jane Fonda said in a statement posted on her website today that the QVC television channel cancelled an appearance they had scheduled with her today to promote her new book "Prime Time," blaming the cancellation on what she called "well funded and organized political extremist groups."
In the same statement Fonda said, "I have never done anything to hurt my country or the men and women who have fought and continue to fight for us."
In 1972, during the Vietnam War, Fonda took a two-week trip to North Vietnam, where she was photographed sitting on an antiaircraft gun that North Vietnamese forces otherwise used for shooting at American planes.
Yeah. QVC didn't want her. Let that sink in for a moment. As for Fonda's contention,"never done anything to hurt my country or the men and women who have fought and continue to fight for us," I called my father, a former Marine and Vietnam veteran, for comment. Alas, standards of decency render it largely unprintable.
QVC, not HSN. The title is misleading.
The network in question is a SHOPPING NETWORK, hence they actually PAY to televise their programming, and they get their income through SELLING PRODUCTS.
They do NOT want to alienate their clients!
This has nothing to do with "censorship." If it were censorship, you wouldn't be able to sell your crap at all... It's a government thing... You know, like what the governments you supported during the 1960s and 1970s did. You can still sell your crap using other outlets. I'm sure that CPUSA has both TV and radio programming where they'd be thrilled to let you shill your crap.
It's a private company looking out for itself. They need to have happy customers, and they rightly believe that if they carried your crap, sales of other products would suffer.

That story about the POWs and the note is just not true. Not taking up for that traitor; what she did was horrendous, but that story is one of those email nonsense things that go around.
