10 theaters. That isn’t a limited release.

Sure it is. It's limited to 10 theaters. Either provide a link that defines 'limited release' as a release with more than 10 theaters or apologize for wasting everyone's time.

But even if you disagree with my conclusions and see it differently — I REPEAT MY CHALLENGE! Where did I insult “everyone” much less anyone (much less you. much less Gov. Palin) on that thread?

Your comment about 'cult of personality' is an insult to supporters of Governor Palin. If you knew any better, you'd be ashamed of yourself.

Where have I not been truthful?? WHERE???? If you cannot backup THAT post, your post knowingly does not match the truth.

You're lying about using arithmetic. You're lying about being 'attacked'. You're lying about the reason anyone might have to 'attack' you and you're woefully misinformed about limited release movies. That's just for starters.

I'm not running to anyone. I'm simply making Jim aware of your antics so that when you go too far (and you will), he'll be well aware of your past history of trolling.

>>Your comment about ‘cult of personality’ is an insult to supporters of Governor Palin. If you knew any better, you’d be ashamed of yourself.<<

Then your skin is thinner than I could possibly have imagined. I’ll keep that in mind in the future. How do you get up in the morning? “Good Morning” must send you into fits!

>>You’re lying about using arithmetic.<<

Which part? (Don’t bother, my arithemetic was correct)

>>You’re lying about being ‘attacked’. You’re lying about the reason anyone might have to ‘attack’<<

You have attacked me. You even attacked me ON ANTOTHER THREAD (and I was kind not to note the breach of rules and etiquette)

>>and you’re woefully misinformed about limited release movies. <<

No, you are. Your ignorance doesn’t make a truth. It may get you off the hook for overtly lying (just barely), but it doesn’t make me wrong nor you right. (well, it makes me right but that is another discussion).

>>That’s just for starters.<<

So far all you have is you were hurt because I described the film as a “Cult of Personality” film. I didn’t call YOU a name, didn’t call Gov. Palin a name, didn’t call ANYONE a name. There have been no insults nor untruths.

You: A lie is anything I disagree with.
Me: A lie is an untruth knowingly stated.

In other words you are bending the truth — beyond reality — because you were caught.

Other than that all you have is you disagree with me and are ignorant on some things.

I can send you a Band-Aid (TM) for your boo-boo if that helps. Because clearly you are easily offended and hurt by facts, analyses and conclusions that you disagree with.

I leave you to your chamber of mirrors and echos.

I think there’s some more PDS on this thread.

Here is wikipedia’s definition of ‘limited release’, including the limited-release strategy of ‘platform release’, for which per theater grosses are identified as the key metric for broadening to a wider rollout and marketing. I’d submit that TU is a classic example of that as described:

“Limited release
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Limited release is a term in the American motion picture industry for a motion picture that is playing in a select few theaters across the country (typically in cities such as New York and Los Angeles).

A limited release is often used to gauge the appeal of specialty films – especially of documentaries, independent films and art films. A common practice by major film studios is to give highly anticipated and critically acclaimed films a limited release in December in New York and Los Angeles in order to qualify them for an Academy Award nomination, as set out by the rules outlined by the Academy. These films would often receive a wider release later in January or February.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show, which first premiered in 1975, is still shown at limited theaters making it now the longest-running theatrical release in film history.[1][2]
Yet a new meaning may come to the term Limited Release as an upcoming DVD and Video On Demand experiment will see films released on the these platforms after only a month or so in theaters. Meaning the term would refer to the month long theatrical release in Canada and the United States, as opposed to films just release in Los Angeles and New York.[3]

Platform Release
A platform release is a limited release strategy, whereby the film opens in only a few theaters, then gradually expands to more theaters as word of mouth spreads and the marketing campaign gains momentum.[4] Depending on the film’s success, there is even the possibility to expand into a wide release. The advantage of this strategy is that marketing costs are conserved until a film’s performance has been established. This way, if a film turns out to be very popular or critically acclaimed, the distributor may opt to spend more money than originally planned and push for a wider release; if the movie flops, the distributor can withdraw from the campaign without having spent much money promoting and advertising the film.

In the early stages of a platform release, the key metric is the per-theater average gross, not the total box office gross.[5] Art house and independent movie theaters like to see a high per-theater average, as proof that they will be successful if they release the film. A distributor using this release strategy must take care that they don’t expand the release to quickly: If a film is successful early on, many theaters will be interested in playing it - but if the distributor releases the film into too many theaters at this stage, the limited audience will be spread over multiple theaters, lowering the per-theater average and making the film appear weaker.”
