The Talk Shows
July 17th, 2011
Guests to be interviewed today on major television talk shows:
FOX NEWS SUNDAY (Fox Network): Herman Cain, GOP presidential candidate; Reps. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, and Chris Van Hollen, D-Md.
MEET THE PRESS (NBC): Jack Lew, head of the White House budget office; Sens. Dick Durbin, D-Ill., and Jim DeMint, R-S.C.; Gov. John Kasich, R-Ohio; David Cote, CEO of Honeywell International and member of the presidents deficit commission.
FACE THE NATION (CBS): Durbin and Sens. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., and Tom Coburn, R-Okla.
THIS WEEK (ABC): Lew; Sen. Jon Kyl, R-Ariz.
STATE OF THE UNION (CNN): Lew; Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C.; former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani.
Herman Cain talks about dynamic vs static analysis of budget plans. Says small business is the economic engine of this economy. obama has put nothing in the engine and has put everything in the caboose. lol - good one.
Wallace asks Cain about “Tax fairness” - Cain says this whole thing about Buffet’s tax rates, taxing corporate jets, etc. is just class warfare.
I don't see how we get meaningful cuts out of these socialists when they still control the Senate and the Presidency, without sacrificing our chances in 2012.
Van Hollen is a huge enemy to be reckoned with. Too bad we can’t target him for retirement.
Not to mention Moochelle.
LOL!
Agree. There won’t be any meaningful cuts. Still, the Reps must continue to press for cuts and get the Dems on the record.
Not too far out of the realm of possibility that Prince Alwaleed is exerting his financier muscle here, too.

Did Rupert Murdoch Just Push Out ‘Favored Daughter’ Rebekah Brooks To Save Son James?
###
Excerpt?
So why did Rupert Murdoch’s top executive Rebekah Brooks — the woman he thinks of as a daughter, and whom he has stood by as the phone-hacking scandal threatens to take down News Corp — resign today?
*snip*
Even so, earlier this week amidst calls for her resignation from parliament, including Prime Minister David Cameron, Rupert stood firmly behind Brooks.
This followed last week’s speculation that he’d shut down his beloved News of the World in an effort to spare her.
So again, why now?
One answer is Rupert is running out of scape goats.
The turning point may have come last night when Saudi prince Alwaleed bin Talal al-Saud, News Corp’s second-largest shareholder, called for Brooks to step down.
In a interview on the BBC bin Talal al-Saud said:
“”For sure she has to go, you bet she has to go. Ethics to me is very important. I will not tolerate to deal with a company that has a lady or a man that has any sliver of doubts on her or his integrity.”

Steyn knocks it out of the park.
Thanks FF, you are the second person who has compared my writing to Tom Paine, high praise! I appreciate that. He loved freedom too.
Pray for America
I think you are talking about Sarah Palin....Newt when he is lucid, not caving to the left.Marco/West all the time, others.
Face The NAtion - On the McConnell plan, Bob Schaiffer asks, Why is Congress concentrating on “cover stories” with this plan. Isn’t that the “height of hypocrisy? Durban says, why, yes it is, Bob!
Coburn - Agrees the McConnell plan is a political plan but doesn’t solve the policy problems. He hasn’t decided whether or not he will support it. Right now, he’s tending against it. Proposing his own plan of spending cuts - 9 Trillion.
Marco Rubio up next.
Great comparison,Zero truly is a dictator wannabe,no doubt.
For 2010, the Social Security withholding was 6.2% for wages up to $106,800 in wages. The Medicare withholding was 1.45% with no limit on wages.
For 2011 only, the FICA (Social Security) percentage was lowered to 4.2%

That extra 2 cents in the takehome pay for every dollar earned was a very sneaky part of the “stimulus” of our country: the consumer society. It is also a reason for part of the huge disconnect between revenue in to the US government vs expenditures every month.
I wonder what workers are going to think next January if/when the paycheck loses its little bonus! No, I don’t wonder. I know they will blame Republicans.
I forget who it was that said it this week, maybe McConnell, but he was right. We really get no where until Zero is gone. We will constantly bump head with someone whose goal is destruction of a once great nation.
I agree, one of the keys is to put blame where it belongs with the dems for bring us to the brink, not offering to help and only getting in the way.
Thanks for the ping. I haven’t been following this Fox ‘scandal’. It sure seems that the other media outlets are blowing it out of proportion for their own nefarious purposes though.
Marco Rubio is a fantastic communicator. I’m glad that he is getting on these shows. Everyone needs to hear his clear discussion of what is ailing our country.
Shieffer tries to go back to “Bush’s fault”, and Rubio quickly responds “When is is going to start getting better, Bob?”
