Jane Fonda said that a cable shopping channel cancelled her scheduled appearance to promote a new book at the behest of angry phone callers threatening a boycott. The Academy Award-winning actress was due to appear on QVC today to promote her new book about aging, "Prime Time."
In a blog posted today on her website, Fonda wrote that QVC received a lot of calls Friday criticizing her for her opposition to the Vietnam War, and threatening to boycott the show if she were allowed to appear.
"I am, to say the least, deeply disappointed that QVC caved to this kind of insane pressure by some well-funded and organized political extremist groups," Fonda wrote, "and that they did it without talking to me first.

MamaB: I too am not a vet. But I remember those days clearly. I, too, am surprised she was not arrested on her return from NORTH vietman; and never tried for treason. I wondered why did she not stay there with the communists if she loved them so much? To me she is still and always will be a traitor to her country. How she lives here unimpeded is beyond me. Rant ended.
My dad’s a River Rat, and my brothers and I grew up referring to her as “Hanoi Jane.” A couple years ago, a family/friend wedding involved her, and for a bit it looked like she would need a place to stay, locally. My parents were evidently asked, and politely declined. As I understand it, no one was willing to help HJ, and she had to rent a hotel room. We thought, good. Whether she does or doesn’t have good looks, pretty is as pretty does. So, in these eyes, she’s bad news.
No she wasn't. Her outer shell might have been attractive in her youth, but she was always a cold-hearted, treasonous, disgusting bitch of the ugliest kind.
yeah, I was definitely fixated on her outer shell.
Sometimes a man needs to stop thinking with what's below his belt. Just sayin...
There is also the irony of a lefty getting the boot because of protests. How uncouth can the masses be?
I don’t suppose she ever considered complaining when this happened to a conservative.
It’s great to see patriots getting assertive.
I recall when I was younger and Hanoi Jane would show up on TV for whatever reason... my normally soft-spoken and man-of-few-words father (a veteran of the V war) would turn blood red and say words I never thought would pass through his lips. Especially that picture of her on the heavy gun ... man he would blow several gaskets and a few sprockets every time he saw that photo. If I saw that picture on TV, I actually got a bit nervous just being in the same vicinity with him... He literally wanted her dead and I seriously doubt his stance on that has changed in 40 years. I'm somewhat certain he would do it himself if ever afforded the opportunity. I've never seen my father hate like that and man, let me tell you, he is good at it when he does
She should have been shunned and never allowed to amass a fortune for acting and her work out videos.
Hell, it was probably Teddy Turner called em.
I shouldn’t say this I suppose, but the people who buy her videos, and books are as bad as she is, Traitors all.
When her pictures come on TV ,I turn them off, I refuse to watch anythingshe does. When she dies they had better bury her at night and keep the location a secret, otherwise the grass will never grow there from all the urine deposited.
One Poster stated that he would buy a round at all of the bars in his neighborhood when she dies. I will be happy to do the same where I live. She isn’t fit to even be in this country, but then neither is John Kerry.
For Heavens sake Friend, you and your generation didn’t have anything to do with this woman being who she was. Take comfort in knowing there’s at least two generations of Americans who have no idea who Jane Fonda is and could care less and that’s the best anyone could hope for, that she becomes more irrelevant as time goes on. Those Americans to whom she is still relevant(like me) know who and what she is will always remember what she said and did. She’ll get hers in the end.
Consequences.
Her complaints are what are absurd —as are the complaints of those who wanted to see her on the Q. Neither she nor they seem to have a fundamental understanding of the concept that QVC made a business decision, which was theirs to make.
There were MANY networks and sites who were selling those mementos of the election - not just the Q. They also sold items for fans of the Superbowl, so it doesn’t show their “support” one way or the other. They are a business and will sell what sells. If their viewership complains loudly about a guest they listen. It’s all about the bottom line — not support for a specific viewpoint.
She is such an oxygen thief! You reap what you sow...Have fun in hell HJ.
