Anyhoo.....the Salon piece is still up with all it's innuendos and guilt by association, along with pages (not just headlines) "ripped" from history and posted and LINKED (for future misinformation by the MSM).
Because, as we've been repeated told, that if you diss President Barack Obama you will be called a racist.
They're gearing up [looks like a done deal] to paint Perry as racist.
I believe the race-baiting, poverty-pimping Left is going to get an up close and personal opportunity to discover that they've met their match in this challenger.

Victim trying to save attacker from execution [story below]
It will be interesting to watch this play out.
Ahhhhhhh....I can see the msm headlines now: "Rick Perry allows execution of white supremacist despite racist ties." Then the lead-in: Despite Rick Perry's sympathy and support for the neo-Confederate movement he is allowing the execution of a white supremacist to move forward. Perry who is flirting with a run for the presidency in 2012, has denied his refusal to stay the execution has anything to do with whitewashing his past association with hate groups. //sarcasm
*************
July 15, 2011: AUSTIN - "A victim of a brutal hate crime is now trying to save his attacker from being executed.
Rais Bhuiyan has filed a lawsuit in Austin, naming Governor Rick Perry and several other officials, in an effort to save his attacker's life because he says he forgives him.
Bhuiyan was the second of three men of middle eastern descent to be targeted by an enraged white supremacist in Dallas, shortly after the 9/11 attacks. Bhuiyan was fortunate to survive after being shot in the eye while working at a Dallas convenience store.
The gunman, Mark Stroman, claimed to be apart of the Aryan Brotherhood and said he was targeting middle easterners as revenge for his sister who was killed in the terrorist attacks.
Stroman was sentenced to death in April of 2002 for fatally shooting the other two men working at convenience stores during the nearly three week long rampage.
But, Bhuiyan says Stroman has changed since the deadly attacks and his life should be spared. "If Mark is given a chance to live, I believe that he will become a spokesperson in raising awareness against hate crimes," said Bhuiyan. [snip]
did he light the match to burn the cross or did Robert Byrd do it?
After zero’s antics the last few years this association actually could help him in many voters eyes.....
I will add though, and I brought this up in other forums in 2000, that algores’s ancestors were confederates and owned slaves too. Funny, Salon didn’t pick up on that.
I have a Confederate flag flying at my house, does that make me an un-American racist?
What is the value of Free Republic?

The problem with America is now and always has been New England Yankees. They should be purged.
What the hell? I’m a Daughter of the Confederacy/Texas...and have a certificate to prove it...it’s just an acknowledgement of your lineage in a heritage association. We protect the history, preserve documents, like a collection of letters sent from our great, greats who served. Even if Perry is a Son of the Confederacy, what is it to these bast***rds...Are we supposed to pretend that Lincoln didn’t come down here and illegally commit war on a sovereign country that seceded from the over-reaching government in Washington, DC? lol
Reading a different post— by the Avalon project-on the
Continental Congress—and the 3/5ths rule. It seems clear
from the forming of our Constitution - past the questionable
passage of the 14th Amendment following the Civil War—to this present discourse there has been a deep seated animus /hostility manifest between the Yankee politicians and those from the South. The one instance where I find myself agreeing with the dam Yankees is in recognition that the solid southern Democrat seemed to foster such anti-social secret societies like the Ku Klux Klan-And tend to focus on the divisive. Where I am conflicted is when I consider how much this I agree with is reflected in the entire deep seated animus by too many Americans for the South —For there is much in Southern culture to laud that is not seen
in the Yankee Carpetbagger.
Perry scares the left. They are getting ready to go after him with everything they have.
-btw Do you know if Rick Perrry has any ancestors who fought for Texas in the Civil War?
Using the Democrat Party strategy of criticizing anyone who speaks against Obama, I declare that anyone who speaks against the Sons of Confederate Veterans is a racist. The following are some notable black SCV members, along with a little black Confederate history.

Besides, why would any patriotic American want to criticize official U.S. war veterans, such as the soldiers and sailors of the Confederate Army and Navy. The U.S. Code, Title 38, Section 1501 states: “The term Civil War veteran includes a person who served in the military or naval forces of the Confederate States of America during the Civil War, and the term active military or naval service includes active service in those forces.

BTW, if you know of any Confederate grave site that does not contain a marker, the Veterans Administration will provide a free marker. The U.S. Code, Title 38, Section 2306 states that the government shall furnish, when requested, appropriate government headstones or markers at the expense of the United States for the unmarked graves of soldiers of the Union and Confederate Armies of the Civil War.
