Ive been hearing whispers that Michele Bachmanns husband, Marcus, is gay for a while. Its now exploding into a full-on meme.
Given my early bedtime, Im always at least a day late on Daily Show bits. Last night, I saw this episode from Wednesday:

Now, I admit, Marcus Bachmann is pudgy and has a less-than-baritone voice. But, last I checked, those arent the distinguishing characteristics of homosexuality.
Apparently, gay activist Dan Savage has started pushing the meme hard, too. And Slates June Thomas is calling him out:
Dan Savage begins each of his Savage Love Cast podcasts with a rip-roaring ranta sword of invective aimed at homophobic school boards that wont let lesbians attend their high-school prom, hypocritical politicians, and generally despicable people. Its a rousing start to 45 minutes of sex advice, and its usually right on and empowering.
This week, though, the podcast started with an attack on Marcus Bachmanns masculinity. After a short preamble about the accuracy of gaydar (with a scientific citation, no less), Savagewhom I respect tremendouslyplayed a tape of Micheles* husbands speaking voice. Bachmann has a tiny bit of a lispthough its barely perceptibleand he slurs his words slightly. To Savages ears, it was a gay accent. Savage played the tape over and over, and reprised it several times throughout the podcast. He even did his own Bachmann impression, exaggerating the lisp and camping it up.

Would they agree if he weren't a "comedian"?
I’d keep an open mind , rumors have been floating for years in MN that Marcus is gay.
Senator Lindsey Graham has never been married and is slightly effeminate and no one...Oh, never mind!
Ask them anything you want, but the gay rights activists are making a mockery out of our system....from a counselor to being gay himself? really? I have no interest in this at all. Michelle is the candidate. I simply don’t care about this.
And what do we think of Lindsey Graham? Do we like him? Do we want him for Pres?
Right. But enough people do, and she won’t be President.
We're skroooooed.
Not because they think Dr. Bachmann might be a poofter.
Because they pay attention scrofulous toads like Stewart.
It's worse. It's programming. It takes advantage of the human tendency to laugh when others do, regardless, (people will, even if they don't know what's funny).
Once people have been programmed to laugh, they equate the stimulus with humor, or at least de-sensitized to the normal reaction of disgust they might have had before. It's almost Pavlovian.
Given even a second to think about it, they would likely not laugh at all.
Are gays implying that being gay is somehow bad?
Why keep an open mind on this one? It’s clear Bachmann will be relentlessly mocked. Do we want our nominee to be a laughingstock?
You've covered your identy very well Ted Haggard........
Ask Thomas Nast.
I have much hesitation as to Michelle for president, but not do to this at all. Not interested in the left’s trashing of a good and decent couple. Not at all.
“You’ve covered your identy very well Ted Haggard........”
Hot Tabasco, have you stopped molesting your children?
We’re not screwed. Bachmann is screwed. And the longer she stays on this stage, the more likely she’ll lose her tea party audience. No more “tea party response to the state of the union” It will get really bad in the first SNL sketch of the new season, if she isn’t gone by then. Wiig will play Michele, I don’t know who will play Marcus.
The left has no valid arguments to make; all they have to offer is mockery.
Is there a critical mass of morons in the American electorate who can't bear the awful strain of thinking? Is there a critical mass of morons in the American electorate who get their thoughts (term used loosely) primarily from brainless buffoons (Jon Stewart is, literally, a buffoon.)?
Ooooo. Now does this mean we get to decide all about people from how they sound to us? Well then let’s start. I’ll say that Harry Reid sounds like a mob guy...so it must be true. The proof is that it SOUNDS that way to me and he is from Nevada. Who else is there? This could be a fun game if they want to play this way.
I still like her, I’d still happily vote for her in Nov 12. I won’t say that about Perry.
Yes. It sounds like a fun game.
Do you own a TV network?
Wrong. If the electorate is truly so brainless as to be swayed against Bachmann by a bunch of buffoons, we're screwed. A Republican form of government cannot survive government by buffoonery.
