Obama: 80% of Americans want higher taxes (You Lie!)
The Hill ^

Posted on 07/15/2011 10:23:00 AM PDT by quesney

President Obama on Friday kept up the pressure on Republicans to agree to revenue increases in a deal to raise the debt ceiling, claiming 80 percent of the public supports Democrats' demand for tax increases.

"The American people are sold," Obama said. "The problem is members of Congress are dug in ideologically."

Throughout the press conference, Obama blasted Republicans for ignoring what he said is the will of the American people by rejecting tax increases that would balance out spending cuts in a debt package.

"This is not an issue of salesmanship to the American people," Obama said. "I hope [Republicans are] not just listening to lobbyists and special interests ... I hope they're listening to the American people as well," Obama said, citing "poll after poll" showing Republican voters, as well as Democrats, believe in taking "a balanced approach" — including both increased revenues and spending cuts in a plan to cut the deficit.

Obama repeated his warning that the country is "running out of time" to avert a financial “Armageddon.”

"We should not even be this close on a deadline," Obama said. "This is something we should have accomplished earlier."

“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”

By tonight; some low level staffer will take the fall for "supposedly" messing up the poll results showing that 80% disapprove.

Bottom line is this President is openly lying at this point and he's going to get bitten by this whopper. Somebody has to take the fall, the halfrican sure as hell wont.

I have to be the fly in the ointment here, it took a minute to find this:
19 Different Polls Show That Americans Support Tax Increases To Cut Deficit (July 1, 2011, Politics USA)

Why the change in poll results from last year? Last year NO-ONE was talking about cutting entitlements and relating taxes to cuts in those. Now when ya talk about protecting medicare from cuts, the polls on raising taxes look difference.

Old Tea party motto: “ Cut that spending gadumit or else..
NextTea party motto: “ SS is MY money gadumit. Send me my check or else..

Deficit reduction is tough business, deficit creation is the party.

Interesting since only 53% of the American people even pay taxes.

I don't know why everyone is so upset about Obama stating that 80% polled want higher taxes. I mean, to us it's just a number right? We may be outraged, but just think of the pure nail-biting full-on panic that must be unfolding in the newsrooms of the liberal media right now.

After all, whatever Obama says, no matter how stupid, they are sworn by the journolista code to back it up.

Get ready for a media sponsored trip into the twilight zone in 3...2...1..

That, and chocolate rations will remain the same.

Thanks for the survey.
Clearly you can get his 80% if you subtract the 20% who say “only by spending cuts” from 100%. Equally clearly this is a total and outrageous misrepresentation of the results of this poll data. This is in part due to the lousy way Gallup posed the question.
Personally I am for eliminating all manner of subsidies and tax loopholes, but definitely not increasing tax rates. I am most definitely for balancing the budget through wholesale spending cuts, changes in entitlement programs to make them more self-funding and for the massive reduction in Federal employment especially in Education, Energy, Environment and HHS.

I would love to see the exact quote of what he said (I refuse to listen to him).

This makes a great campaign commercial in 2012. Deadly.

I was not asked. Were any of you?

I got two calls from gallup this week, and both times they hung up without even asking a question. Maybe no answer is a "yes" to a question not asked?

“In Obama’s worldview, “rich” is defined as ANYONE (individual, couples, small businesses) who make more $250K or more a year.”

****

Well, that’s his public viewpoint. In reality, he believes anyone who makes any kind of money on his/her own without government help is “RICH.” He wants to redistribute everyone’s wealth — take it by force and give it to himself and maybe a few supporters and friends.

And the unions are not exempt from this. Oh, he loves unions now, but if he succeeds in becoming dictator (his chief ambition), he will throw the unions under the bus too. The unions are only useful to help him accomplish his nefarious goals.

Let’s look on the bright side. This will make a great campaign commercial for the Republicans next year. Just show a clip of Obama saying how 80% of the American people want higher taxes.

“Obama: 80% of Americans want higher taxes”

Time to get Joe The Plumber to do a few high-visibility commercials in the next few days.

If the Pubbies don’t want that, perhaps the Tea Party folks might be interested!

Just sayin’....

This is the same smug arrogance that possessed V. I. Lenin as he mapped out the destruction of millions of people so that power would come to the people.

I know. It is pure nonsense. It seems to me that only the Christian concept of sin and its depravity can explain how two such intelligent people could be so badly deluded. But undeniably, as with Lenin, Obama seems to view the people and their collective wisdom as being embodied in himself ... and he simply could not be more wrong. And he is incapable of seeing how wrong he is. It is therefore imperative both to call his bluff on this issue and then to turn him out of office.

claiming 80 percent of the public supports Democrats' demand for tax increases.

Financial gifts can be made by check or money order payable to the United States Treasury and mailed to the address below.

Nobody's stopping that alleged 80% from giving more.

Oh, he means "higher taxes on somebody else"...
