Republican president candidate Herman Cain today called out President Obama on the debt ceiling fight, accusing the Democrat of using the situation to demand more taxes and more spending to meet his own desires.
During an appearance on the Steve Gill Show, Cain, the former chief of Godfather's Pizza, said Republican congressional leaders should ignore Obama's "scare tactics" about hurting "old people, children and puppy dogs."
He called for Republicans to oppose raising the debt ceiling, a goal shared by the "No More Red Ink" campaign that explains House Republicans have it within their grasp simply to not raise the debt ceiling and thereby require the federal government to slash spending and start living within its income.

Ping! (self serving, middle of the night “ping”) ....
He is right! For too long the scare tactics have worked and keep Democrats in office to plunder the public til. Now is the time to show them for the pirates they are. The GOP must call them out now!
We need some good old FREEPER “Eagles Up! type late 1990s activism here, with all of us manning the phones and fax machines over the next few days. Really, the Tea Party/Conservative pressure on D.C. just cannot be dropped at this critical point!!!!
The folks outside the beltway (such as Cain) see the truth -- the pain is inevitable, so take the medicine now. It's for the good of the country, and Obama WILL be blamed. Obama has handled this whole mess atrociously. If the GOP stands firm, the country will be better off, and Obama will be totally destroyed as a politician.
But I worry that the current GOP establishment doesn't want that outcome.
Time to step up Republicans and hammer this jackwagon president and his administration. Winning rule in 2012: Direct political attack on Obama! Hopefully Zer0's massive incompetence will move more to vote against him in 2012. We'll see. Democrats promise to give away to minorities what others have worked for. Their feel-good mortgage schemes (Fannie-Freddie both run by Democrats) and deficit spending have sent this country into the swamp. Fannie-Freddie reform was proposed by Bush since 2001 and a Republican bill in 2005 to reform them before the collapse was stonewalled by Dodd, Obama, and 39 other senators who filibustered the McCain bill. I'm just guessing, but are Ben's QE1 & QE2 printing policy, coupled with Biden's 'summer of recovery' and all the green shoots the piss-stream media harped about, will they be included in the Republican's battle cry this fall? It's all fiat money now, meaning that it has value only because the Fed says it does! So we have an unstable economy wobbling atop unsound money. Money that the government takes from taxpayers, or borrows with no intention of paying it back, or prints without end. The values and virtues of America are still there, and can be contrasted with the socialist welfare state and it's message of tax and plunder. Any normal American, regardless of color, should naturally gravitate toward the message of individual liberty, freedom and responsibility. Let's try limited government.

Countdown until Obama leaves Office: 554 days as of July 15, 2011. |
Someone here hates Cain?
How irresponsible. Washington, both parties, needs to LISTEN TO THE PEOPLE.
I ought to be quiet!! ;-)
Too late, Bozo has already given McConnell and boner the excuse they need to cave and give Bozo the unconstitutional power to raise the debt limit.
LOL
I’m in Oregon - I probably ought to be asleep too.
I think Cain’s a good guy and sure says the right things and has a good resume but he doesn’t seem to have much of a chance - but maybe I’m wrong..
I thought it said -Mc-Cain and nearly had a shock induced heart attack.
;D
Are you committed to a particular candidate at this time?
Your rationale for these comments? And your objectivity to make them? Help me a bit.
The Cain ping lists.
You are right, I think Sarah could be a great POTUS - I’m somewhat worried that the absolute despicable trashing of her might make it too difficult for her to be elected but I will fight for her if she runs.
I also like Cain and have no problem with him but he seems to be having a bit of a problem rising out of the crowd. However, there is still plenty of time. I heard he said something stupid about not signing any bills more than 3 pages long or something - but I heard that from a liberal so maybe it isn’t true.
I’m not sure why but Michelle Bachmann doesn’t interest me - although if she were the candidate I’d certainly vote for her. I’m just not sure she has the experience, I think she is jumping the gun. Both Sarah and Cain have better resumes - IMHO.
One thing about Sarah is she can’t really be trashed any more than she has - they’ve done their worst. They’re just getting started on MB and that will make a dent.
So...we shall see. Anybody but Obama! :-)
I have been wondering about that. How can they stop the full depression from occurring eventually.
This is a rare quality.
If the election were held today, he'd get my vote.
Any election.
