In debt talks, GOP suffers from lack of lead messenger

Republicans think they have an easy message to sell to voters: Slash the size of government and stop tax increases.
But a sideshow has percolated on Capitol Hill: There are too many Republican messengers with too many messages often undercutting one another as the nation teeters on the brink of financial default.
Its a problem for a party searching for a national figure who can go toe to toe politically with Barack Obama.

The ‘Rat’s favorite technique is to personalize and issue, so that it is identified with a certain individual, and then trash that individual, instead of dealing with the issue. This is what happened to Newt Gingrich in 1995. His temprement became the issue.
The Republicans are being smart, here... (I know, I know...) By not having one person carrying the ball, the Democrats have nobody to gang up on. When they have to debate the matter on the merits, they lose.

Exactly! The advantage here is that there is no one Old Bull who can be bribed/intimidated into playing business-as-usual/politics-as-usual. The Young Guns are refusing to be bossed around. Whenever Boner and McConnell start to choke they get told in no uncertain terms that they can be replaced.

You are correct, although their point is not entirely inaccurate. Surprised at the relative absence of Ryan on this issue. His time this week is focused on these HHS hearings, picking apart Obamacare and Mediscare.
He is so effective on these budget issues, I’d like to see more of Ryan.

I dunno, I always thought “We the People” were the messenger...
The problem isn’t who is delivering the message...
It is the elected officials not listening to the message...
But that’s ok, next year we’ll deliver another message...And they’ll either listen, or pack their crap and go home...

More scaremongering nonsense from the media.

He is so effective on these budget issues, Id like to see more of Ryan. It remains to be seen just how effective he is. The full force of the MSM hasn't yet been leashed against him as it is now against Boehner/Cantor. And Ryan's bill is still far from passage.
Ryan is laying low knowing that his turn is up next.
To: Haiku Guy
That’s how they couldn’t take the Tea Party down.
Sorry, MSM.

EXACTLY!!! It’s the same complaint they have about the Tea Party, that they can’t pull the old Alinsky on someone. Sorry boys, ain’t gonna fly. We have over 200 “messengers.”

Nice try Politico-DNC. The right is winning this argument hands down so the media is in full panic mode to try to prop up Odumbo.

The Republican Party should always take advice in how to conduct their affairs from Politico.
Yeah, that’s the ticket!

"Its a problem for a party searching for a national figure who can go toe to toe politically with Barack Obama. "
Oh, I dunno, how about Herman Cain, Sarah Palin, Newt Gingrich, Rush Limbaugh, or even the third-grade class at Pine Street Elementary School.
Obama and his ilk are waiting on a "racial moment"...they want someone to "act stupidly" so the budget crisis be fixed at a "beer summit".
A conservative not afraid of the "race card" could out debate obama in 5 minutes. Obama has nothing but ire and temper tantrums, and someone who doesn't fear his tantrums will have him in tears.
We see this happening right now - you couldn't drive a 10-penny nail up obama's butt right now he is so uptight from not getting his way on the debt ceiling. He's pretty close to losing it. He's even trying to lure the GOP to Camp David so he can have a full-fledged, lying-in-the-floor, kicking-and-screaming tantrum with no TV cameras nearby.
There are even those who say once the GOP is inside CD, the doors will be locked and they will be "sequestered" until they come around ot obama's way of thinking.
Anyone not afraid of obama could invoke his "stuttering gear" in about 5 minutes. What obama has needed for a long time is someone to hit him with all the hard questions, on camera, and wait for answers. He has had his way with doctored pressers and pro-obamaian bussed in for speeches.
I think the kind of pressers that Bush and Reagan had to endure would cost obama three months in the sanitarium.
Obama is a wuss hiding behind a title and the secret service...with a dash of race thrown in for good measure...all things being equal, he'd crumble like a paper bag.

We need a rock solid 20 year plan to eliminate Socialism from the face of the Earth. It will have to be a slow steady weaning. Things will get “Progressively” better and better. Starting with the termination of Social Security. That is the Bedrock this mess is built upon. It should be terminated now and paid off. The Federal Government must be stripped of all its regulatory powers. That part can be cold Turkey and would cause an economic boom never witnessed in History.
