Reid says Cantor's conduct during the sensitive White House talks have shown, in Reid's words, "he shouldn't even be at the table." Reid says other congressional leaders are negotiating in good faith as an Aug. 2 deadline approaches for raising the debt limit.

Beg to differ.
Reid knows Boehner isn’t going to agree to tax increases any more than Cantor is. If that’s what you mean by “fold like a cheap suit”.
Stylistically the two are different, but in substance they are the same
So why is Reid saying this?
Cantor verbally confronted Obama and Obama stormed out. Reid wanted to put his spin on Obama storming out.
I have read on here that Reid doesn’t like Jews. I can believe that, but I would have to include that he doesn’t like conservative Jews. Jews that cowtow to liberalism, even to their own detrimate, are probably ok with Reid. But a conservative Jew who speaks his mind and prompts Obama to storm out?? Oh, Reid can’t abide that.
Other reasons? Reid trying to throw a stinkbomb into the Republican group, trying to portray them as divided between the reasonable and the hotheads, trying to drive a wedge, hoping to advantage his side.
We should NOT be “negotiating” with the Communists...period.
Yes to your strategy, but wait: it’s too soon. The House can vote on related items in the interim, such as the balanced budget amendment; timing is important here so the House appears to be acting at the precise moment to prevent default.
The RATS are holding a losing hand, and they are getting increasingly desperate by the hour.
Bachmann should be in the meetings, after all she ‘controls’
~60 votes.
My bill would increase the debt ceiling by $100 billion or some other lame-ass amount with another clause that any further increase in the debt ceiling require 2/3 of both houses of Congress.
The only table Reid should be sitting at is one in the mess hall of a federal prison.
100% dead on!

I think Cantor is keeping Boehner’s spine from collapsing.
Reid had better tend to his own knitting: when the House sends over its bill to cut spending and increase the debt limit concurrently, his caucus will have to choose between default or acquiescence in the glare of public indignation.
You think McCaskill, Nelson, Tester, Sherrod Brown, Manchin and other RATS are going to risk cutting off grandma’s SS check? You think these people have confidence in Obama at the top of the ticket next year in their own Red states? Reid cannot hold the dam on this one.
Wrong.
On the issue of raising taxes, Boehner and Cantor are on the exact same page.
Cantor is not there to keep Boehner from caving. He is there because he is the GOP Majority Leader. He is the GOP Majority Leader because Boehner is fine with him being the ML. Boehner outranks Cantor. The Speaker outranks the ML. Boehner sets the policy, the others are carrying it out along with Boehner.
These are facts, not a fantasy story that your mind invented.
Not true.
If by spine collapsing you mean agreeing to raise taxes.
Neither Boehner nor Cantor nor any Republicans will go for that.
They are not going to vote for a tax increase.
Won’t happen.
Votes aren’t there.
Boehner would not agree to one, with or without Cantor in the room.
The sooner FReepers get it straight that our side isn’t going for tax hikes, the better. All this waste of time and angst...
Since the president started the poker analogy, let it continue:
It looks to me that Cantor just put Obama on tilt. Cantor got Obama flustered enough to admit he hasnt got the cards. The Repbulicans might be ready to scoop a monster pot. Here comes the river, but Zero is drawing dead.
Well, I can hope anyway.

You are on point about Reid’s problem.
However, the GOP has problems in the Congress as well. Michele Bachmann and others in the House are saying they will not under any conditions vote for a hike in the debt ceiling. I believe in the Senate, Rand Paul has said he would try to filibuster any attempt to raise the debt ceiling no matter what was else was in the bill.
This is why I’m not sure where we stand on sending legislation up.
BREAKING: Dayton has folded in Minnesota, will agree to June 30 Republican budget offer.
Given that the entire Minnesota nonsense was orchestrated by Obama, just as the controversy in Wisconsin was, now tell me who is winning the PR war in DC.
The GOP is winning, and keep the phone lines melting in DC

“Reid is an anti-Semite.” Perhaps, but the left has the same problem with all the exceptions to the given that they own the Jews, the blacks and women (the abortion card.) So when Jews like Cantor or even Bibi, blacks like West and Cain, and women like Palin and Bachmann come off the reservation, there’s hell to pay. Palin and now Bachmann are especially vilified because without women, who comprise the majority of voters, the left’s constant use of ‘caring’ and ‘for the children’ are DOA.
No, Goober...YOU shouldn't be there! Cantor is ONLY the majority leader of your house of congress. You are a mere peon now. How does it feel to be little...oh...you've ALWAYS been little. Never mind!
Boehner would not be selling a dollar-to-dollar approach for these many months if he knew he didn’t have the votes in the GOP House caucus, because he will get zero Democratic votes.
