Steven Rogers was in the wrong place at the wrong time.
The 22-year-old University of Illinois Springfield student, known for his bright smile, sense of humor and friendly nature, was watching a DVD with friends inside a Grandview apartment when a bullet passed through the outside wall of the building and struck him in the chest
Steve didnt have any enemies, said his father, Frank, from Moline. If he could help you, he would help you. He didnt have to know you very well. He was that kind of guy.

Rogers did not know the alleged gunman, Tremayne R. Willis, 23, for whom authorities have listed addresses in Springfield and Kincaid.
Willis is accused of firing multiple shots from a rifle into the back of a three-unit apartment building in the 2400 block of North Grand Avenue East about 11:30 p.m. July 4.
States Attorney John Milhiser reiterated Wednesday that prosecutors believe Willis did not intend to kill Rogers.
He was not an intended target, Milhiser said.
Bullets also struck a woman and another man who were inside the apartment with Rogers. The names of the two victims were not disclosed, but police said they were treated and released from the hospital...

Something does not make sense. Why would anyone randomly shoot a rifle into a house?
There may be more to this than has been released in the media.

Willis fired multiple shots from a rifle, without warning, into the back of an occupied building and struck multiple people, killing one.
Sorry folks, but Willis intended to kill some one - the multiple shots he fired proved this beyond any possible doubt.
