Obama's bumblers damage military voting rights
Washington Examiner ^ | 7/13/11 | J. Christian Adams

Members of the armed services can visit a Pizza Hut on base in Iraq, but the Pentagon has failed to comply with a 2009 law requiring voter registration offices on every military installation.

A new report on military voting shows declining participation rates in the 2010 election despite an attempted congressional fix. Obama administration incompetence implementing the law is to blame.

Because service members have voted at historically low rates, Congress passed the MOVE Act in 2009. MOVE was supposed to cure impediments to voting by mandating absentee ballots mail overseas at least 45 days before election day. MOVE also required every military installation to have a voter registration office.

Sadly, a new report shows the problem has only grown worse, no thanks to a lackadaisical Justice Department and a Pentagon with misplaced priorities.

The report by the Military Voter Protection Project and Chapman University's AMVET's clinic concludes that participation rates by uniformed service members actually declined in the 2010 election, despite the MOVE Act.

We need a Blood Pressure warning on some of these threads. Like a Barf Alert, only more serious/fury-inducing.

This is not bumbling, it’s a reelection tactic.

These guys do lots of deliberate destructive things, and it gets labeled incompetence for cover.

I don’t believe incompetence has anything to do with Obama’s suppression of military votes. Remember, Algore attempted to deny overseas military votes in his erection contest with GWB back in 2000. Why? Military people have learned what makes the world work - they mostly vote for the correct side in politics.

That would work. I just got so angry, reading about how Obama & Co are going to disenfranchise the military once again. I am equally frustrated with the Republicans. I guess in the Senate they can’t do much, but is there no way the House can force compliance with its laws? No wonder the Bible speaks so harshly about the state of ‘lawlessness’. It is a terrible state in which to live.

Nice to be reading about this 15 months before the election, rather than the usual 15 days. Perhaps, just perhaps, we can do something about it.

I’ve posted this a dozen times before, and I’ll post it once again.

WHERE ARE THE JAG OFFICERS?!?!? WHY ARE THEY NOT FILING LAWSUITS FOR THE ILLEGAL DISENFRANCHISEMENT OF MILITARY MEMBERS?!?!?!

Rant off.

You know, to be on some patrol in Kandahar right now, wondering if you’re going to get shot at or run into an IED, and then wonder if you’re going to get paid because ‘0bama said no’ is a really, really bad situation.

0bama did this with the troop increase. With the thing this past April. It’s his ace or so he thinks—to hold hostage the lives and well-being of our vulnerable and valorious. To frighten them and their families. To keep them in the dark and used as pawns.

The capriciousness is vicious. Enough.

Obama wants to supress the military vote. He figures the Military are republican, or who might have a grudge against him. He might be right.

Way more than enough. And then stuffing homos into the military. Why haven’t the Repubs defunded the repeal I don’t know.
