Bullets taken from victims of a fatal police shooting during the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and from the scene match guns used by three of the police officers involved, a ballistics expert said on Wednesday.
Patrick Lane told a New Orleans jury that his analysis showed with "reasonable scientific certainty" that at least one of the bullets removed from the body of 17-year-old James Brissette matched the rifle fired by Sergeant Kenneth Bowen.
Other bullets or shell casings taken from the scene matched guns fired by officers Robert Faulcon and Anthony Villavaso, the Louisiana State Police ballistics specialist said.
Bowen, Faulcon and Villavaso are on trial in federal court alongside Sergeant Robert Gisevius over the fatal shootings of Brissette and 40-year-old Ronald Madison days after Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans. Four other people were seriously wounded in the incident.

I hope they fry. Katrina was a disaster and these idiots made it worse.
These cops should have followed the path of so many of their peers and fled the City. Dumb asses.
It’s hard to conceive what anarchy looks like from your armchair.
Your fooling yourself if you think this is/was an isolated incident. It’s a prime example of how the police all across this country will react when TSHTF...
Imagine a financial Katrina hitting the entire country, cops from coast to coast will act out this way.
Katrina was a long time ago. They get their fair and speedy now?
I sure hope that the stolen Heineken floating by, did not take any of the collateral shots
I sure hope that the stolen Heineken floating by, did not take any of the collateral shots
Too many vigilante cops from around the country descended on the gulf and terrorized private citizens.
Cops get paid to handle anarchy and these thugs could not handle it and resorted to murder.
And I am not one that did Katrina from my armchair.
Well I hope the next time a catastrophe hits New Orleans and it’s hot and sunny and the humidity is high and the water is rising and there is very little communications with the outside world and the satellite phones won’t work because they are overwhelmed and communications between you and everybody else in the area is spotty and the mayor and police chief are on all the radio stations perpetuating rumors and people are looting and a good number of the police force have fled and then you get a call that officers are getting shot at well I hope you are the man in charge. This is not the Henry Glover case, there are a lot more variables.
I get it. I grew up in NOLA and was there just prior to Katrina and back in town within a few days of the storm But, I had the good sense not to kill anybody.
Never , never use a rifled weapon, shotguns are much harder to prove ballisticly
I’m sure your a good man. God help us if this happens on a National scale. Anarchy is not cool or hip.
The lesson for all of us is to be as well armed as the police. That will make for a polite disaster.
Did they really flee, or were the missing names “phantom cops” with other collecting their paychecks?
I don't ever remember a good answer to the “Katrina missing cops” story.
“Its hard to conceive what anarchy looks like from your armchair.”
Sorry, but you obviously know nothing of this shooting of four unarmed people seeking shelter on a bridge and then lying about the situation, claiming those four shot at them.
“Anarchy is not cool or hip.”
These cops were part of that anarchy and contributed to it. You’re right, that wasn’t cool or hip.
To paraphrase Alan Moore, that wasn’t anarchy... that was chaos.
