Leadership. FOX News just reported that Barack Obama walked out abruptly on Republicans today during debt talks.
Here’s some excerts from politico take, which I won’t link...
When Cantor said the two sides were too far apart to get a deal that could pass the House by the Treasury Departments Aug. 2 deadline and that he would consider moving a short-term debt-limit increase alongside smaller spending cuts Obama began to lecture him
.Cantor rudely interrupted the president three times to advocate for short-term debt ceiling increases while the president was wrapping the meeting.
Cantor accused the president and congressional Democrats of progressively low-balling, over the last several days, the savings that could be achieved from proposals discussed by Vice President Joe Bidens working group on deficit reduction. Cantor warned that the group has not identified enough cuts to win House passage of a $2.5 trillion debt-limit increase the size the president says is needed to get through the 2012 election, sources told POLITICO.
Eric, dont call my bluff, the president said, warning Cantor that he would take his case to the American people. He told Cantor that no other president not Ronald Reagan, the president said would sit through such negotiations.
Obama told Cantor that he would either have to agree to tax increases or give up on his demand that the debt hike be matched dollar-to-dollar to the cuts
MINISTER: Mr Pudey, the very real problem is one of money. I’m afraid that the Ministry of Silly Walks is no longer getting the kind of support it needs. You see there’s Defence, Social Security, Health, Housing, Education, Silly Walks ... they’re all supposed to get the same. But last year, the Government spent less on the Ministry of Silly Walks than it did on National Defence!
Well there you go. He only had 3.5 hours for lunch, probably had to skip his ice cream cone, and there was no block of time for golf. Maybe he’ll go on strike to protest.
The Obamaer is about the learn a lesson in hubris.
Very scary indeed.
Perhaps. But I remember that he was standing firm last time -- until just before he caved. When Boehner sees this thing through to its conclusion, then I'll believe ... not before.
Drama Queen!
The House cannot send a bill to the President; it needs to go the Senate first.
But they SHOULD pass a bill, send it over to the Senate, and let Democrat Harry Reid spike the bill. Show the nation and the world that the GOP is serious about the deficit and the debt, and the Democrats - who control the Senate and the White House - have no interest in fiscal responsibility.
If that is what Obama has, then God help us. He will destroy the country rather than loose. And I don't mean just financially.
Could this fool be any more scripted? What a charade!
The only thing more inflated than Obama’s ego is the price of commodities right now...lol.
Serves the GOP right for stooping so low themselves
#39-——— “Exit the King”.
Then he has violated his oath of office and the constitution. Impeachment should follow...
100% staged, planned theatre?
Excellent memory!
Isn’t it telling that Obama looks at his political opposition in the same way as Reagan looked at communist Russia. Obama and the leftists always have infinite patience when it comes to America’s enemies...not so much when it comes to their political opponents. Pathetic!
HOWEVER did you do that Obama kicking the door thing?
Funniest thing I’ve seen in at least two years.
Wow.
