Kenneth Gladney reaction: “I couldn’t beat them; I didn’t have the resources they had. They had all the money in the world and the backing. I’m just an average man.”

Video pending.

The Kenneth Gladney beatdown case continued this morning in St. Louis County Court. After a health care town hall meeting in August 2009 St. Louis native Kenneth Gladney was beaten, kicked and called racist names by Rep. Russ Carnahan’s SEIU supporters. Sue them personally. You get more money anyway.

Can’t the Judge overturn the Jury if there is compelling evidence such as video?

Not an acquittal in a criminal case.

In a civil case, yes. In a criminal case, a jury's verdict of not guilty cannot be overturned by the judge or appealed by the prosecution.

Exactly what I was thinking. Are you supposed to respect this jury’s decision or can we disagree. It’s all so confusing. :)

You can’t possibly believe that’s why they found them not guilty.

I wonder what jury duty pays in St. Louis, and how much less you get for the wrong verdict.

I can't wait to see everyone jump on this thread and tell us, yet again, how beautifully our system "worked."

Sure there was video, but it was only 480i. What kind of barbaric country convicts on anything less than 720p video.

The system worked.

Sounds like instead of combing through the jury pool for this trial, they collectively bargained instead.

I’m basing that on the linked article. If you mean that you suspect union-goon foul play, I do too. I just suspect it’s both.

When the left continues to deny justice and act outside the law, they are making a violent conflict inevitable.

That's why they keep treading on the Gadsden rattlesnake.

Cute. Nope, but I read the linked article about how the defense highlighted Gladney’s post-incident conduct. (I’m not sure I agree with the judge’s decision that the conduct was relevant, however, at least in a criminal case where degree-of-injury isn’t generally an issue. Either they hit the guy without legal justification, or they didn’t, and to any person with eyes, they did.)
