Kody Brown is a proud polygamist, and a relatively famous one. Now Mr. Brown, his four wives and 16 children and stepchildren are going to court to keep from being punished for it.
The family is the focus of a reality TV show, Sister Wives, that first appeared in 2010. Law enforcement officials in the Browns home state, Utah, announced soon after the show began that the family was under investigation for violating the state law prohibiting polygamy.
On Wednesday, the Browns are expected to file a lawsuit to challenge the polygamy law.
The lawsuit is not demanding that states recognize polygamous marriage. Instead, the lawsuit builds on a 2003 United States Supreme Court decision, Lawrence v. Texas, which struck down state sodomy laws as unconstitutional intrusions on the intimate conduct of consenting adults. It will ask the federal courts to tell states that they cannot punish polygamists for their own intimate conduct so long as they are not breaking other laws, like those regarding child abuse, incest or seeking multiple marriage licenses.

K. Dee Ignatin wondered too. On her blog:
See the postings for June 11 and June 12th. I cannot link the documents directly.
It shows alleged fraud in bankruptcy filings and food stamp usage. (i. e. Kody/Meri Brown have one biological child. In the bankruptcy filing they list seven.)
Not pushing the blog, the information is there to peruse if you are interested.
Very enlightening.
Case not closed. Their premise for season 2 of “Sister Wives,” was they had to flee - with an E not an A - Utah to avoid prosecution.
On this Access Hollywood clip they admit it was all a lie.
Fine and dandy with me if you wish to side with liars and fraud, but I suggest you watch season 2 and how they used innocent children as props before you classify their house hold as 3 live in girlfriends.
You are forgetting the children.
I bet there’s some idiot out there who just can’t wait to marry his toaster.
Remind me again where and when slave masters gave women the power to vote as the Mormons did.
____________________________________________
Sure I’ll remind you about how that falsehood was handled by the Mormon males
A mormon male would load all his concubines onto a wagon and take them to town on election day
so that if he had 6 so called “wives” he had 6 extra votes...
Standing over each individual woman, who probably knew little English because the mormon missionaries tricked so many young women from European countries like Sweden into going all the way to Utah where they were forced into polygamist relationships, and couldnt read if she did...
he and the other mormon males there would show her where to make a mark
Few if any women actually voted for themselves
It would usually be the way Brigham Young wanted the Mormons to vote..
BTW The “vote-for-women” didnt last long in the Utah Territory and it was years before women really got the vote in Utah
thanks to a Momma in Tennessee
Tennessee-got-er-done !!!
I’m on dial-up service so I can’t watch the video, but thanks for offering it.
My time is waaay too important to watch these immature so-called “reality” shows.
No, I’m not forgetting the kids at all.
Are the kids being abused? Do they look healthy? Do they have a nice clean house? Is the dad in their lives? Do they seem loved by their parents? Do they appear to be well-fed? Have any of them been in trouble with the law?
I still say it’s only one legal marriage and 3 girlfriends and pretty much nobody’s business but their own on how they choose to live. Not yours.
You think that America forbidding polygamy is zealotry?
In 1857, Jame Buchanan send US troops westward to confront the Mormons on the polygamy issue and replace Brigham Young as governor of the Utah Territory.
____________________________________________
Actually the US troops were there to protect the US citizens who wanted to go west in peace without their wagon trains being attackec and robbed and the settlers all murdered by the Mormons...
Briggie young had made himself gov for life in his theocratic dictatorship and also king of the world as Joey Smtih had done before him and was running off any non-mormon judges and administrators that Buchanan sent to the Utah Territory..he wouldnt let them operate in Utah and he swamped the juries with friendly mormons...,
Court cases were slanted in favor of the mormon criminals
The case for the Mountain Meadows Massacre alone took 20 years to complete...
I’ve a single wife, whom I’m very happy with, but a wife is a high maintenance item. Even if you love her, as I do.
Four “wives” in the same house reminds me of an African animal program I once saw showing wild dogs taking down an antelope. And they had something like, if I remember correctly, a 90% kill rate.
I’ll skip volunteering for the antelope role.
Do you know the actual history of what was done by the federal government against the Mormons?
Might want to check up on that. Yes, I call invading people’s homes and dragging women and children out against their will “zealotry.”
I still say its only one legal marriage and 3 girlfriends

Thats cwhat I always say about Joey Smith
One legalwife(if he ever did marry Emma Hale)
and 40 girlfriends...some of them just one night stands
Tennessee was one of the very last states to give women the vote, and ratified the 19th Amendment very narrowly.
Women regained the vote in Utah in 1895.
So you support polygamy, and you think that Christian America stopping it defines Americans as zealots.
That is a bold take. Anti-American, and anti-Christian, but bold, well, actually in today’s modern America, I guess that it is just another lefty cause to further corrupt our nation.
Mormon women were the ones who lit the fuse on womens voting rights,
____________________________________________
I doubt it
Women had a place in the Utah territory and it wasnt in a spot to have a say
The only ones lighting any fuses or benefitting from votes for women were Brigham Young and the other the mormon males
Remind me...Remember it was the males who had to vote to allow the women that psuedo vote in the first place...
and that fuse fizzled out real quickly...
Well worth clicking the link. Thanks, Pebcak.
Mormon women were the ones who lit the fuse on womens voting rights,

Elizabeth Cady Stanton was not a Mormon......
Didn’t God tell the Mormons to end polygamy?
Either you’re fLDS, or you haven’t bothered to read up on this issue. Children are often abused, sometimes sexually; they’re forced to marry quite young (sometimes as young as 9 or 10), and the boys are forced out of the community so that the old gaffers can have more wives. But if your mind and heart are closed to these horrors, nothing I can say will have any influence. But don’t preach that cr*p to the rest of us. We know better.
You do? Honestly? Sick. If Mormons what to be polygamous, let them go found their own country. If they can’t live by the laws of this one, they should leave it. Now.
They had to be forced by the 19th Amendment to give women suffrage.
_____________________________________________
As did the Mormon males in Utah
BTW In 1920 polygamy was still goping strong among the mormon profits, apostles etc...
Women were still property of the Mormon males
Ya really think mormon males wanted women to have a say in their own lives ???
In 1978 when pressure from the US govt caused the Moprmons to finally allow blacks to jopin a full members,
tyhe Mormon women light fuses and asjked to join to
They were called ugly names and shunned and astrocized...
IF in the 1800s Mormon women in Utah territory had tried to organize and ask for the vote they would have been treated even worse by Brigham Young and his cohorts...
Dont try to tell me that Motrmon males support their women in and type of rights for women...
even the Mormon doctrines to this day are sexist and bigoted against women...
When the Mormons get themselves a woman profit...
or eve3n put a woman in as one of the 70s..
then we’ll talk...
>>Ive a single wife, whom Im very happy with, but a wife is a high maintenance item. Even if you love her, as I do.<< \
I guarantee you are doing something wrong if you are finding she’s a high maintenance item. In our house it’s exactly the opposite, I’m the high maintenance item.
