President Obama on Tuesday said he cannot guarantee that retirees will receive their Social Security checks August 3 if Democrats and Republicans in Washington do not reach an agreement on reducing the deficit in the coming weeks. "I cannot guarantee that those checks go out on August 3rd if we haven't resolved this issue. Just pay me back all the money I pre-paid in for 50 years along with the interest it WOULD nave accrued had it not been embezzled by the gov't - and were it not being lavished on druggies, alcoholics, bipolar and the like WHO NEVER PAID IN _ but are getting all bennies at 100% - unlike we folk who PRE_PAID for 50 years...and still get $100+ a month taken out of our SS check for medicare, pay a yearly premium, pay a 20% co-pay and office visits are not covered...all of which the young and able sluffers get at 100% FREE - out of OUR money.

The only 'entitlement' part that applies to seniors social security is that THEY ARE entitled - they pre-paid.

You weren’t pre-paying for anything. Your money, at best, went to those that were collecting the entitlements. In reality though it went to other spending as well.

I suggest that the Government seize all pension and deferred entitlement funds connected with the big companies, unions involved in the Tarps and other government bailouts and assistance programs from 2008 onwards. Also state and local government plans.
That it then dilute all solid backing of those funds the same way SS is diluted.
In other words put everyone in the same boat, and so that we don’t have citizens specially entitled to better access to the wells of fiat money.

If SS checks don’t get paid, that will be his/Geithner’s choice. There is enough revenue coming in to pay all treasury obligations and fully fund SS benefits. I guess he will have to cut short his Libya adventure and maybe cut funding for Planned Parenthood and the Nat’l Endowment for the Arts.

My hope is if we get a "Tea Party" type candidate, they will run on the Republican ticket. I don't think another "Tea Party" person would throw themselves in the ring as a third party. Maybe I am giving too much credit to common sense. But, that is just my humble opinion.

Social Security is an EASY place to start the cuts, since the government has no LEGALLY ENFORCEABLE requirement to pay anyone anything on it.
