We've all probably noticed an increase in inner-city violence and flash mobs among certain members of society.
As we know, the media tends to be not be very detailed about these attackers.
If the media were to acknowledge more readily the identity of these thugs, would we be any closer to finding solutions to these attacks?
What would you all propose as the best action that should be taken for inner-cities to turn things around a little?
When it's time to get serious? Napalm....
I think this thuggery is largely a result of no-dad families. And I think no-dad families are a result of the welfare state.
Short term, strict law enforcement.
Well said. People who have no self respect, no societal values, and no future. I can't imagine growing up in that environment. Ending welfare, or greatly reducing it will have a dampening effect on the problem, at least in the second generation.
Availability of jobs, hello
A slight increase in the number of Kumbaya vanity threads might do the trick.
Wasting time reading them will keep 'em off the street, and trying to decipher some of the "WTF???" wording and phraseing will do wonders for the old GED scores.
the destruction of morals is the hippies’ free love fault, not the fault of welfare.
Combine that with
the po po criminalizing teenage behavior so that a kid with a pot infraction can’t get a job
The discretionary spending of the administration so that the economy has tanked and there are no jobs for ANY teens, and those that might be available are competed for by poor slobs who got shown the corporate door
So, there you have it. Hopeless and the only change is things are getting worse
“I think this thuggery is largely a result of no-dad families. And I think no-dad families are a result of the welfare state.”
I think no-dad families are frequently a big part of the problem - though not the whole problem, and I think “the welfare state” was a negative factor that helped foster a lot of no-dad families - though it was not the only factor and it did not act alone.
Single moms who worked vigorously to keep other positive factors at work in their family - church, strict rules in the home, emphasis on getting an education, were many times able to help their kids overcome the deficit of the no-dad family. I think the biggest problem was the “no-dad family” together with the loss of other positive factors in the family. I am not saying that a “no dad” family is almost always a deficit in some sense. I am only saying a good mom can help to be sure it is not a fatal deficit.
That's the whole point, isn't it?
The people who would live off the work of others used to have to look that worker in the eye. Every day.
Now, they have been trained to think the government created the money they receive.
You all are being manipulated.
The social and welfare programs did not break us. THE DISCRETIONARY SPENDING OF THE OBAMA ADMINISTRATION DID.
Of course not. The point is not to find social solutions. The cry to detail the race of any black person who does anything criminal is more an example of stirring the racial pot in the hopes that it will stir up whites. There are those who want angry whites to rise up in some aggressive or even violent way and see stirring the pot as a potential means of accomplishing this. This is, in my opinion, the basis for wanting to emphasize the race of black and other nonwhite perpetrators when video has already made their racial makeup quite apparent without it being said.
Lol, yldstrk, there wouldn't be as many hippies if there weren't so much welfare.
“I am only saying a good mom can help to be sure it is not a fatal deficit.”
Absolutely, and kudos to the good moms out there who are trying, while handicapped, to raise their kids right.
...criminalizing teenage behavior so that a kid with a pot infraction cant get a job.

Believe it or not back in 1965 very few kids did pot and almost all kids were expected to get summer jobs and permanent jobs when they graduated if they did not have the opportunity to attend college.
Life was a whole lot better then. What happened since that time to make your statement come true?
Probably as noted several times, the end of the welfare state and other subsidies. That will cause the most constructive individuals within the community to take prominence and force the least constructive to either shape up or suffer in seclusion. Crime will increase but that can be countered with tough law enforcement. In time, people will adjust and adjust for the better. Also, for all Americans, end legal child support, alimony, etc. This will force women to vet men better and to be less inclined to file for divorce. Poor single women will stop getting pregnant (and many non-poor women). It sounds harsh but people will adjust. People need incentive. At one time, blacks had successful townships such as that in Tulsa Oklahoma, Rosewood, etc. They were completely independent and often better off than the neighboring white communities. Such independence would come about again and remain if we don't have the repeat of the violent riots that targeted these townships.
That doesn't change the fact that welfare breaks the souls of those who take it, and breaks the backs of those who have to work to pay for it.
Back in the 60’s JFK’s bunch announced an overhaul of the justice system and crime soared. Add to that the legal acceptance of ‘’causal’’ drug use and it soared some more. These liberals have had a great time destroying this country.
Huh? You do realize that most of these attacks are not videoed and that the press makes a point of not reporting the race of the attacker?
