Former Sen. John W. Warner, R-Va., briefly stepped back into politics Friday, joining U.S. Secretary of Energy Steven Chu to urge the preservation of light bulb standards that were included in the 2007 energy bill.
The U.S. House could vote as early as Monday on the BULB Act (Better Use of Light Bulbs) introduced by Rep. Joe Barton, a Texas Republican. It would strip from the law, signed by then-President George W. Bush, standards that traditional incandescent bulbs be 30 percent more efficient starting next year.
Barton says consumers, not the government, should determine what type of light bulbs to purchase.

John Warner defines “dim bulb”. And Steven Chu defines loopy propeller head.

I wrote my rep today. She’s a commie, but I felt it was worth a shot. I told her I’ll track her vote, and make sure everyone is aware of how she voted come Jan 1, 2012.

Good question. There’s a database somewhere with the answer.

The Republicans sponsoring “better use of lightbulbs” don’t get it.
The Congress’ role with regard to lightbulbs is - nothing.

Good question. Theres a database somewhere with the answer. I already realized it wouldn't work.
All they have to do is make a backup image of your hard drive before they enter the password.
Then you are just shredding a copy.
Truecrypt has a decent alternative; a hidden encrypted volume inside of another encrypted volume.
You give them the password to the outer volume. There is no way to know that there is an encrypted inner volume, so your data is safe and they don't even know it is there.

Agreed. This might be a way for the establishment guys to take the wind out of Bachmann’s sails. She has proposed a bill to rescind this stupid incandescent light bulb banning abomination.
