Libs Outraged Over Paul Ryan’s $350 Bottle of Wine, Silent When Nancy Pelosi Drowned $101,000

Cheers.

For some reason the libs weren’t so outraged when Obaama served $399 bottles of wine at his taxpayer-funded state dinner …

… but Libs today were “stunned” and “outraged” that popular conservative Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) ordered a $350 bottle of wine for dinner in New York.

TPM reported, via Ann Althouse:

When [Professor Feinberg] saw the label on the bottle of Jayer-Gilles 2004 Echezeaux Grand Cru Ryan’s table had ordered, she quickly looked it up on the wine list and saw that it sold for an eye-popping $350, the most expensive wine in the house along with one other with the same pricetag.

Feinberg, an economist by training, was even more appalled when the table ordered a second bottle….

“We were just stunned,” said Feinberg…

She was outraged …. [my emphasis]

I've found that most restaurants mark wine up on their menu at least double of what they buy it for or what you would pay in a liquor store. On top of that, a lot of bars who have “happy hours” will give you happy hour prices on beers and hard liquor but no discount on their wines. Let's face it, restaurants are not making a killing on the food they serve but are making their big bucks on the liquor sales.

I stopped imbibing about ten years ago. One day, ‘I just had enough’ But back then I just never found a CA wine that was on par to the French. (Maybe the grapes are better now?)

I can’t say I’ve ever ordered a $350 bottle, but I DID order a $100 bottle once, years ago... There’s a difference, believe me! These days, my taste runs towards $15-20 bottles, when Mrs. LC and I have company, or we go to someone’s house for dinner.

Just because that restaurant had one wine on it’s list for $350 does not mean that ALL the wine on their list were that expensive. I hang out at a restaurant that has some real expensive wines but they also have others in the thirty dollar to 75 dollar range. If in your mind all the wine was that expensive then you would expect to pay what, $20 for a beer and $40 for a shot of whiskey at the bar?? I don’t think so.

Oak Leaf comes in different varieties from red to white to zinfandel, as well as different composition. I love it, and am sure I can’t taste the difference to Paul Ryan’s, hmmm!!!

I think Cali vintners have upped their game over the past 2 decades; but French wine may be better. I have had some good imported wines too...New Zealand and Australia of all places

The “proudly” call themselves “SERVANT” to the country!

IF they really were “Servants” they should be paid same salary as our servant soldiers!!

I’m sure we don’t need a term limit for them!!!

What an outrage. We all know that expensive wine should only be drunk by university professors.
